Condolences for Blake Gardiner Barklage

Devin SmithTuesday, November 2nd

to the barklage family, i am so sorry for your loss. the passing of my best friend still doesn’t seem real to me. i feel like he is going to pull up to my driveway in his jeep blasting morgan wallen at any moment. i wish i would’ve taken advantage of all the moments i saw him last. i wish i would have taken off from work to have him to cape may. i wish i would’ve hugged him a little tighter after prom, which was the last time i saw him. i never would have thought a life as radiant as Blake’s could be cut short, but his spirit will live on. i am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and while this is the worst possible thing that could have happened, God’s plan will shine through. i love you all and i will keep your family forever in my prayers. fly high B.B.

Dear Barklage family,
I am praying for you all during this time of grief. Blake was truly one of the most all around people I have ever met. Discussions of golf and politics in homeroom with Mr. Pinder we’re always a great time. I wish I had gotten the chance to go to Clemson with him as we discussed about it with Luke Burman. I wish you all the best, and am sendin all of my love to you.

Our family sends our prayers to Blake’s family. Our son Aidan just started his Freshman year at LaSalle and was in Latin class with Blake. He said Blake had the best sense of humor and always had the class and teacher cracking up laughing. Latin I soon became one of Aidan’s favorite first experiences at LaSalle, due to the joy Blake brought to the class and making everyone smile and laugh.
Praying for Peace for your family in the days ahead… and May God hold you until you are with Blake again.

I just want you all to know how sorry I am. Not a day will go by where I won’t pray for you. I will live everyday with regret for not getting to know him when he was here, but I’ll always have hope because I know his friends, and I know they’ll be there for you. I know those guys, they’re amazing people, and I know they will continue Blake’s legacy.
