Sending my condolences to Mike, Rita, Andrew, Nancy and the entire family and friends of Bette.
Thinking of her brings a huge smile to my face. Bette always made me feel so loved and embraced in friendship. She loved to welcome me and share her kindness, generosity plus humor.
I appreciated her strong dedication to her religion and faith.
Even though I am not the same religion I opened those holiday cards and read carefully and respected each word they said. Often there was a religious symbolic enclosure in them and I saved them.
I am thankful for being able to impacted and appreciated by Bette. I'm thankful that her daughter, Rita became the woman she is, partially because of, Bette and that Nancy was so loved by her.
With my love and prayers, Wendy

So very sorry to learn of Bette’s passing. Living on Woodstream, I recall a very fond memories as a child of always feeling welcome in her home. I can remember her hearty, fun loving laugh and smile...Christmas brunch and fun at the Holiday Inn...always recalling those good times when your card arrives in the mail at Christmas time...Her unique and gorgeous handwriting on the envelope always brought me back. And of course always a heartfelt personal note inside. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a wonderful person. May the memories bring you peace during this difficult time.
Dear Mike, Rita, Michael, Ellen, and all of the Schmidt family,
I am so sorry to hear about Bette’s passing away. Bette was one of the most genereus, caring, warm-hearted people I’ve ever met. As a 19 year old, in 1985, I stayed with Bette, Mike and the family in their lovely home in Solebury. Many nice memories come up when I recall that happy time! Later on Bette visited me and my family in Amsterdam. Since then we kept in touch. Her lovely Christmas-cards, written in her unique handwriting, always came with a thoughtful personal note. Although it was a long-distance friendship, it always felt like Bette was close and nearby. I’m so thankful to have known this wonderful lady! She is a great inspiration to me and will always be in my heart. My thoughts are with all of you. I wish you all the strenght to cope with the loss of your dearly beloved wife, mother and grandmother.
