John "Mumba" A. Donohoe Jr.

John A. Donohoe, Jr. “Mumba” of Holland, PA passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2024 at the age of 69.

He was the beloved husband of 42 years to Christine M. “Chrissy” (nee Jacalone). Son of the late, John A. Donohoe, Sr. and Eileen (Seher) Donohoe and son-in-law of the late Aurora C. Jacalone.

John was a life-long resident of Northampton Township. He was a 1972 graduate of Council Rock High School. What set John apart from others was his work ethic and his vision to create companies that would grow and flourish.  In the early 1970’s, he created a medical transcription company called Transcription Ltd. that would be absorbed by MedQuist. John joined the MedQuist team in 1974 and eventually served as President and Chief Operations Officer until his retirement. Never one to retire, in 2002 John founded a new company, JADCO Ltd. which operates Sterling Limousine and Sterling Specialties, a promotional product printing company.

When John met Chrissy, it is fair to say it was love at first sight.  The two were married for forty-two blissful years and together they raised four wonderful children and welcomed twelve grandchildren into their lives.  Ever the loving father and grandfather, John was present at each child’s activities and events. He loved family above all else.

As a young man in Northampton Township, John developed a love of all sports as he competed in football and baseball in his rec league and high school.  This love of sports grew with him as he became the number one fan and supporter of the Northampton Township and Council Rock School Athletic Associations.  As a coach, fan, and sponsor, John had a decade’s long association with these organizations. He was their “go to” person if they needed anything.  In fact, in 2007, along with other super fans, John created the “Turf the Rock” fundraiser to provide AstroTurf for the Council Rock Walt Snyder Stadium.

John was a communicant of St. Bede the Venerable Church in Holland, and, of course, was very involved with the CYO sports teams while his children played on their teams.

For the past 20+ years, John was the proud founder and Chairman of the ROMBC (The Retired Old Men’s Breakfast Club.)  They would meet on the 1st Thursday of the month at Spring Mill Country Club.  This group, which began with two members, grew to the size of thirty men where they would  discuss grandchildren, gossip about local events, and exchange stories of retirement – which John could never really relate to since he worked until his passing.

In addition to his beloved wife he is survived by his four children; John A. Donohoe, III (Alexis), Katie Fernet (Sean), Patrick Donohoe (Haley), and Colin Donohoe (Kerry). His siblings; Michael Donohoe (Jayne), Brian Donohoe, Paul Donohoe, Tracy Raysik (George), and Erin Bradley (Frank). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; IV, Brayden, Raegan, Sawyer, Tessa, Kenzie, The Bulldog, Layla, Brianna, Carli, Kane, Kellen, and Remi, and his father-in-law J. Richard Jacalone.

Family and friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday evening, April 3, 2024 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Joseph A.
