Thomas Edmund "Ted" Ryder
Thomas Edmund “Ted” Ryder, age 82, peacefully passed away on June 18, 2021 with his wife of 55 years, Sharon Kay Ryder, by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence Laube Ryder and Edmund Linton Ryder and by his two brothers, Timothy McNair Ryder and Frank Joseph Ryder.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Born in Oakland, California, Ted moved from California with his family to Clearwater Beach, Florida in his teen years. He graduated from Clearwater High School, Tulane University, and pursued graduate studies at Indiana University/Bloomington where he began a long career in information technology.
Ted served his country for four years at the U.S. Department of Commerce in the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey Commissioned Officer Corps; his extended assignment was the automation of newly constructed USC & GS scientific research ships, built and commissioned in Jacksonville, Florida.
Ted’s service was followed by a twenty-three year career with Sperry/Univac, Unisys Corporation primarily in worldwide IT support management. He also enjoyed a consulting position with Merck and five years of employment with Fleet Bank of Boston/Bank of America Credit Card Division in Horsham, PA.
Ted always found great peace, joy and wonder in nature. He loved fly fishing for trout in cold, western mountain streams, birdwatching, and faithfully returning to vacation and walk on his beloved Clearwater Beach.
Services and interment will be held privately at a later date.
