Condolences for Honorable John J. Rufe

blake eisenhartWednesday, November 22nd

I was saddened to learn the news about John. He was a remarkable man and friend. I extend my deepest sympathies to the family at this time.

Judge Rufe was the first judge I appeared before in my career. Not only did he personally congratulate me on that first very nervous appearance almost 30 years ago, he made me feel special and welcome every time I saw him. Heaven gained an angel. My deepest condolences to his family. Judge Rufe’s uncle Dr. Fritz Rufe introduced my father, a physician, to Doylestown Hospital in 1963, and shared his medical office on Pine Street with my father. The Rufe family holds a special place in our hearts.

My sincerest condolences to the Rufe family. John and his law firm partners were my family's attorney. I had the pleasure of meeting John a few times, and in addition to professional advice, John was generous with his time, and I always appreciated his personal advice. RIP John, a life well lived.

So sorry to read the news of Judge Rufe's passing. I appeared before him many times over the years and can truly say he was man of honor. His fairness and compassion were apparent every time, he listened to people and was genuinely interested. His concern was never superficial and he was never patronizing, he saw the dignity in all people. He made Bucks County a better place. He will be missed but rest assured his example is one that will continue to be emulated by those that knew him and appeared before him. My condolences to his family. May he Rest in Peace.

Judge Rufe always had a kind and caring hello when we crossed paths. He was learned in ways that transcended the law and bench. I will always remember the times we served on the various committees of the Bar Association and the golf we played at Bech Bar Conferences. My deepest sympathy goes out to Cynthia and all the Rufe family. John is in my prayers.
