Ronald A. Daggett
Ronald Albert Daggett of Easton, PA formerly of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully at home Sunday, November 10 with family at his side. He was 80 years old.
Born in Abington, Pa, he was the son of the late Hazel Spurlin Daggett and Albert Canfield Daggett.
Ron was the beloved husband of Lois R Daggett having celebrated their 58th anniversary this year. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Michelle Rummel and husband Chris Fricka and his precious grandchildren Ryan and Brooke Rummel and Chase, Adelaide and Vaughn Fricka; also by his sister Susan Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his cherished daughter Lynn Kristen Daggett.
Ron was a graduate of Hatboro Horsham HS, class of 1962, and Wilkes College. He continued his education at Temple University, Trenton State College, and Combs College of Music earning his master’s degree, doctorate degree and elementary and secondary principal certification.
He began his teaching career as a music teacher at Neshaminy Junior High School and then transferred to Neshaminy HS where he was instrumental music teacher and band director. “Doc”, as he was affectionately called by his students and staff, developed an expansive instrumental music program. Doc always said it was because of his outstanding students and supportive parents he was able to accomplish this. The programs included a 300 piece marching band, 2 concert bands, jazz band, orchestra, and competing color guard. The groups received recognition, accolades and awards throughout the U.S. and abroad. The marching band travelled to California, New Orleans, Hawaii, Portugal Mexico and Ireland.
Doc eventually became as Administrative Assistant then Assistant Principal at Neshaminy HS. In 1996, he returned to where he began his teaching career at Neshaminy Middle School, this time as Principal. During his tenure, the school received the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. This was the first school in Neshaminy School District to receive this award. He retired from this position
After retirement, he returned to playing his trombone in several local jazz and community bands, including Sound of Swing, Monday Blues Jazz Orchestra, Tri County Band, Warminster Symphony Orchestra, and St John Methodist Church band.
He treasured his time with his grandchildren, teaching them to play instruments or cheering them on in swimming or softball. He particularly loved travelling with his wife through the states. Together they visited all 50 states.
Yes, he kept his sense of humor to the end and achieved one of his life goals … To leave this world in peace and slide into my grave shouting “wow, what a ride”.
