James T. Mooney, Sr.

James T. Mooney, Sr., 86 years of Churchville, PA. passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

James Mooney was born in 1938 to the late James Thomas and Ellen Mooney (McConway) and lived in Philadelphia.  He attended North Catholic High School and graduated in 1955.  After High School, James applied to work at Rohm and Haas on St Joseph's Day. He worked in the paint division for over 50 years as a Senior Chemist in Research and Development. He attended the night school division at La Salle University beginning in 1970 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1978.

James met the love of his life, Doris Rita Moore, and they were married in February 1960.  Their daughter, Theresa, was born in January of 1961 and son, James T Mooney, Jr., was born in December of 1965.

James and Doris loved to travel especially to California spending time in the Wine Country, Disney World in Florida and Ocean City New Jersey with Family.  The true joys of their life were all of the children in the family and they enjoyed attending all of their events. Their grandchildren Caitlin, Seamus and Bridget affectionately called them Mom Mom and Pop Pop. 

James had a fond appreciation for all types of music and was an avid reader of Science Fiction books.  He was a passionate sports fan rooting on the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles (Go Birds!).   James was loved by all and will be truly missed!!

James is predecease by his wife of 47 years, Doris Rita Mooney (Moore) and his siblings, Joseph Mooney and Kathleen West; he is survived by his loving children, Theresa Hanlon and her husband Joseph of Churchville and James T. Mooney, Jr. and his wife Barbara of New Providence, NJ; three wonderful grandchildren, Caitlin Hanlon, Bridget Hanlon and Seamus Mooney and wife Angelica).

Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, November 15th from 9:30am-11am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road, Richboro, PA. A funeral service will follow. Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA.
