Larry Seveland

Larry Seveland of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024, at his daughter’s home in Richboro, PA. Larry demonstrated remarkable strength and courage during his heroic fight against cancer. Never giving up and always grateful for his life and family, he remained vigilant until the end.

Larry, born Lawrence Polito, was raised in Northeast Philadelphia and spent most of his life there before retiring to Lewes with his beloved fiancée, Suzie, in 2018. He was the eldest son of the late Dallas and Eleanor Seveland of Philadelphia. Larry attended Abraham Lincoln High School and Rets Technical School, where he earned a degree in electronics. Proudly following in his father’s footsteps, Larry had a lifelong career as a master carpenter, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and perfectionism.

Ever loyal to his roots, Larry cherished his childhood friends from Angus Road and maintained strong connections with them throughout his life. The greatest love of his life was his fiancée, Suzanne. Together, they shared many adventures and traveled extensively, visiting numerous U.S. state parks, beaches, and going on cruises. His all-time favorite destination was Key West, Florida.

In the last decade, Larry connected with half-siblings from both the Polito and Seveland families, forging close bonds and enjoying conversations that allowed him to learn about his heritage.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Sherri Davis (Mike) and Jackie Seveland (Mike), stepdaughters Gina Chippendale (Jason) and Lindsay Marino (Rich), as well as his grandchildren, Cody, Ryan M., Kaitlyn, Grace, and Ryan D. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Gary Dallas Seveland, along with many nieces and nephews. His childhood friends from the “Angus” crew will also greatly miss him.

Larry was preceded in death by his fiancée, Suzanne Marie Zeltmann, on December 8, 2023. He is also preceded by his parents, Dallas and Eleanor Seveland; his sister, Donna Seveland; his brother, David Seveland; and his brother-in-law, John Mack-Seveland.

Family and friends are invited to offer condolences on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., leading up to the start of his Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bede the Venerable Church, located at 1071 Holland Rd., Holland, PA. A funeral luncheon will follow. His interment will be private on Monday, November 11, 2024, at Rosedale Memorial Park in Bensalem, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Larry’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN www.stjude.org.
