William J. Byrne

William J. Byrne of Southampton and formerly of Gray’s Ferry, Philadelphia died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 31, 2024.  He was 96.

William was the loving husband of the late Regina A.  Cronin Byrne and father of the late Regina Lynch. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late William J. and Mary Gaughan Byrne.

William was a proud veteran of the United States Army.  He had a successful career with AT & T and served as manager until his retirement after 29 years of service to the company.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed, but eternally loved by everyone who was loved by him.

Well into his later years, William enjoyed golf and spending time down the shore with his family.  William could often be found with his newspaper and pen clipped to his shirt, at the kitchen table completing with success the weekly word puzzles.  He was a man with an enduring devotion to his wife and family, the family dogs (especially Bella) and to the Lord.  He was always there to lend an ear and often would reply with the words he lived by, “don’t sweat the small stuff.”

William is survived by his children, Mary Joan Pellicciotti and her husband Bill of Southampton, PA and William J. Byrne and his wife Patricia of Southampton, PA  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and his son-in-law, Brian Lynch.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 10:00am until His Funeral Mass 11:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Avenue Southampton, PA 18966.  His interment will follow at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.
