Susan M. Szapowalo (Cascerceri)

Susan Szapowalo, née Cascerceri, the beloved wife of Victor Szapowalo for 51 years, and mother to Samantha (Patrick) O'Halloran, Natalie Szapowalo (Michael Morton), and Victor Szapowalo, passed away at the age of 72 on October 6th, 2024, surrounded by love. She was raised in Bensalem and later moved to Langhorne, where she and Victor raised their family until 2009, when they moved to Feasterville and then to Bristol Boro.

She was the adoring grandmother "Memom" of three grandchildren, Aidan, Riley, and Sophia, who were the light of her life.

Susan was born in Philadelphia on January 16th, 1952, to Eleanor (née Penczak) and Anthony Cascerceri. She met the love of her life, Victor, and they were about to celebrate 52 years of marriage. Susan would do anything for her family. She especially loved cooking for her family and was known for her meatballs and "gravy," and her delicious kielbasa and sauerkraut reflecting her Italian and Polish roots. Her daughters would fight over her leftovers so much that Memom always traveled with extra containers to split up her food. She especially loved Christmas and the music and enjoyed spending that time with her family. Her children often got mad at her because of how many gifts she would make "Poppy" wrap and bring into the house for her grandchildren.

She was one of five children raised by Anthony and Eleanor. She loved her siblings fiercely and often thought about them. Although life made it difficult to see each other often, she cherished her siblings and the memories they shared. She loved her extended family and cherished so many great memories. Waiting for her at the gates were many loved ones, like Betsy, Diane, Linda, and her mommy and daddy, whom she missed dearly.

She lived life with a contagious passion, and her strength of spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. Susan's unwavering determination and strong will were defining qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.

Susan adored her husband more than words could express; he was the anchor of her heart, the solace in her storm, and the light of her life. She was looking forward to an upcoming family vacation to Mexico.

Susan would move mountains for her husband, children, and her precious grandchildren. Her love knew no bounds. Susan and Victor always had an open-door policy and helped many people over the years, including countless children, including Christina, with whom she had a special bond.

Susan cherished her role as "Memom" and took great pride in showering her grandchildren with love and support. She was overjoyed to witness Aidan embark on his college journey and eagerly followed his adventures, always offering encouragement and guidance from afar. She was proud of him for studying abroad and immersing himself in different cultures until his next adventure at Colorado State. She was thrilled to witness Riley's academic and athletic achievements as she excelled in school and on the soccer field. With boundless excitement, Memom envisioned Riley's journey to becoming a player on Team USA or continuing to play in college. Memom was so very proud of Riley’s achievements and looked forward to her promising future. Memom has always believed in thinking big, and she instilled that same belief in her grandchildren.

Her bond with Sophia was equally memorable. They shared countless cherished moments, from family vacations to impromptu shopping trips. Memom's heart swelled with pride as she watched Sophia thrive academically and with her love of sports. Memom always encouraged her to pursue her dreams of playing softball in college and venturing into the medical field, knowing that Sophia's passion for both sports and science would lead her to a successful future. Their incredible bond was built on trust, empathy, and unwavering support for each other's dreams. They were more than just grandmother and granddaughter; they were the best of friends, and their connection was truly heartwarming.

Memom’s love, support, and belief in her grandchildren will continue to inspire and guide them as they chase their dreams.

Susan's passing serves as a reminder to us all that life is precious and finite. She lived her life with such vibrancy and passion, always reminding us to seize the day and live life to the fullest. Her energy was infectious, and her wisdom profound. Susan's legacy will forever inspire us to cherish every moment, pursue our dreams, and embrace the beauty of life. Though 72 years may not have been enough for us, she showed us that the impact we make and the love we share can last a lifetime. Let's honor Susan by living each day with purpose, joy, and gratitude.

Rest in peace, Mommy. Your legacy of love and encouragement will forever live on through the lives you touched and the bellies you fed. We will take you to Mexico and many more places, from Italy to Alaska, so you can breathe the air and see the sights. Our lives will never be the same without you, but we promise to live life to the fullest because tomorrow isn't always promised.
