Mary Louise Maier (Gallagher)

Mary Louise Maier (Gallagher) passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on July 23, 2024 at the age of 86 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mary was the daughter of William and Anna (McCaffery) Gallagher and grew up in the East Falls Section of Philadelphia where she attended school at St. Bridget's Grade School and Little Flower High School. At the time of her death, she resided in Washington Crossing.

In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased in death by her siblings William, John, Eugene Gallagher, and Ann Sciolla as well as her cherished son, Arthur Maier. Mary will be sadly missed by her devoted and loving husband of 61 years, Arthur Maier as well as her children Michael Weleski (the late Theresa), Patricia Cannon (William), Marianne Maier-DiNardo (Ron), and Francis Maier (Danielle), 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Mary will be remembered as the family "caretaker" who always offered a helpful hand. The "volunteer" who worked serving food to the homeless at St. Francis Inn, or the "Business Woman" who co-founded (with her husband) a successful window business "Gallagher Bros" while raising five children. Mary loved to travel, sing, dance, play slot machines at the casino, and had a knack for decorating. She was a strong independent woman with boundless energy, a financial wiz who knew how to invest, and a mother who taught her children strong work ethics, importance of education, love of God, family and country who was never afraid to express her "Irishness" stating an opinion or having a good political debate.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 10:00am, until the start of her Funeral Mass at 11:30am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will take place immediately following mass at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to St. Francis Inn located at 2441 Kensington Ave Phila Pa 19125. The family also wants to thank the staff of Holy Redeemer Hospital, Holy Redeemer Hospice and St. Joseph's Manor for the extraordinary care of our mother and as a support to our family.
