Jane Elsie White

Many hearts are hurting today.

Jane Elsie (Wolf) White, who was lovingly christened “Muv,” by her children because she was a perfect blend of “Mom” and “Love,” escaped the pain of this world to touch the face of God and reunite with her cherished husband Jim and her grandson Christian. She also looked forward to embracing her parents, (Rudolph and Elizabeth Wolf) siblings (Rudy and Bill Wolf and Betty Rogers) and her many departed friends.

She left this earth on the morning of July 15, 2024 at Oxford Crossings in Langhorne, a week before her 88th birthday, after suffering intractable pain from spinal stenosis. A woman of deep faith and a heart of pure gold, who was the epitome of selfless motherhood and kindness in action, Jane was a beloved friend to everyone she met and a mother, grandmother and “Gigi” of the highest order.

She was the ultimate caregiver, raising her own four children with unconditional love, then caring for her sister for many years, then her husband as he battled Stage 4 cancer, and always helping her children with her grandkids. She never had an unkind word for anyone and always tried to understand rather than criticize. As one of her favorite hymns describes, it is “well with her soul” and God will surely greet this good and faithful servant at the gates with joy.

She clung to life so she could witness the wedding of her daughter Beth Boruta to Fran Casey, a man who has been an unrelentingly devoted “son” to her for years. She also lived to see the very first photos of her fourth great-granddaughter, Grace.

Growing up in Germantown in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of Germantown High School and a long-time church secretary for North and Southampton Reformed Church in Southampton. After her family moved from Roslyn to Holland in 1970, she was an active stay-at-home mom for years, who participated in Bible study and counseled those in crisis for CONTACT Helpline. She and Jim traveled to 43 countries and took many cruises in their 65-plus years of marriage, with her favorite destination being the Holy Land.

So many sayings, songs and symbols will remind us of Jane’s beautiful soul, including butterflies, cream donuts, gobs of butter, and “The sun shines in your head.”

She also enjoyed tennis, bowling, Words with Friends, Scrabble, and Mahjong with her beautiful friends at Oxford, who included Louise, Dorie and Paula.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Jim White (Sherl), Diane McNaughton, Beth White Boruta Casey (Fran) and Janice White, along with grandchildren Amanda and Jim C. White, Meghan Wagner (Alex), Dr. Mark McNaughton, Jr. (Dr. Ivana Marji), and Kelly Kotz (David), and Erin, Danny, and Olivia Boruta, along with great-grandchildren Adley and Quinn Wagner, Cameron Kotz and Grace Marji McNaughton. She also loved her granddog Bobby Jo.

She was predeceased by her husband James J. White, Sr. and her grandson Christian McNaughton, who will forever be a four-year-old looking out over the ocean with childlike wonder, holding the hand of the grandpop he loved passionately.

We also extend a heartfelt thanks to Jane’s caregivers who shed tears alongside us and advocated without hesitation for her needs, Desiree and Sarita.
