Ronald W. Beerkircher

Ronald W. Beerkircher passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024, surrounded by family at home in Chalfont, PA. He was 85 years old. Born in Barrington, NJ, Ron was the son of the late Walter Kerth and Clara Pauline (Smith) Beerkircher. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy C. (McGeoch) Beerkircher; the loving couple married in Audubon, NJ, at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, in 1962, and celebrated their 62nd anniversary in February.

While attending Gettysburg College, Ron became President of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduating in1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was commissioned in Newport, RI, and was assigned to the USS Elokomin (AO-55) from 1962-63. He served as a Gunnery Officer and was deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis. From 1963-66, Ron served as an instructor at the US Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. He continued to spend summers teaching at OCS until 1973. He retired as a Lieutenant Commander.

In 1968, Ron earned his Master of Education from Rhode Island College in Providence. After moving to Chalfont, PA, he taught American history at William Tennent High School in Warminster until his retirement. He was especially known and loved by his students for his creative Halloween costumes.

In his retirement, Ron enjoyed woodworking and collecting and selling antiques. He was a long-standing member of the Catboat Association, and enjoyed taking his family out for day sailing on his own catboat, the Cat-o-Nine Tails, on Narragansett Bay.

In addition to his wife Dorothy, Ron will be missed by his children Nancy Lorentz (Andrew) and Larry Beerkircher; grandchildren Eva, Jonathan, and Kathryn Lorentz; and Jazmyn and Bryella Beerkircher, and their mother, Kimmy Beerkircher. His passing will also be deeply felt by his sister Joan Orem and many extended family members. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Doylestown Hospital Hospice for their compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Ron’s family on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 6:00pm until the start of his Funeral Service at 7:30pm at the Joseph A.
