James Edward Pickard Jr.

James Edward Pickard, Jr., 79, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at his residence. He was the beloved husband to Christine Cook.

Born in Philadelphia on January 2, 1945, James was the son of the late James E., Sr. and Wilberta R. Hanna Pickard.

Jim was quite the Renaissance man, an avid runner, biathlete, faithful fan of the Phillies and football.  He himself playing in an annual Thanksgiving Day game of multigenerational football players for years.

Jim also was quite the brewer of beers at home  and assembled an extensive homebrew system with great results. His passion extended to specially brewed and barrel aged ales. A member of the Horlacher Chapter (Allentown) - BCCA and the Eastern Coast Breweriana Association, since 2008, Jim’s collecting interests focused on regional brewers like Ballantine, Ortlieb and Piels. He had a special interest in trays, signs, and particularly neons. Jim was always quick to volunteer with set-up of various hobby events.

He was a great lover of animals as evidenced by the number of dogs and cats he shared his life with. Life with Jim was always an adventure especially touring through Colorado on a Harley with family and friends. If you were lucky enough to have Jim as a friend, you had a friend for life.

Along with his wife Chris, Jim is survived by his children, Jill Therriault and her husband TJ of Northwood, NH, Jeff Errickson and his wife Hayley Jeffords of Royersford, PA; grandchildren, Charlotte Therriault, Charlie Therriault, Quinn Errickson; siblings, Peg Buccilli and her husband Bruce and Fred Pickard as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 10:00 until his Memorial Service at 11:00am in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Avenue (at Sandy Ridge Rd) New Britain, PA 18901. His interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
