Angela Cortellessa (Evangelista)

Angela Christine Cortellessa, 93, of Doylestown, Pa., formerly of Bridgeport, Pa., passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by family and dear friends on March 29, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony John Cortellessa.

Born March 3, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pa. she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie Nazzario Evangelista.

Angela was a long-time employee for the Upper Merion School District, working in food services at Candle brook Elementary School, Upper Merion Middle School, and Upper Merion High School.  Upon her retirement Angela served as the kitchen manager for food services.  She was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, and would enjoy watching, and cheering on her teams.  When not watching a game, in recent years she could be found admiring birds that would gather in the backyard.  She loved spending time with her family, and cared for many of her grandchildren from when they were very young.  Through her love of cooking, and family gatherings, she always made the holidays special.

Survivors include her four children, Anthony Cortellessa (Carol), Cathy Battaglio (Tom), Christina Cortellessa, and Michael Cortellessa (Erin) and six grandchildren, Barbara (Matt), Tony, Kate, Nicole, Michael (Lauren), and Emma, as well as three great-grandchildren, Harmony, Amelia, and Logan.

Family and friends are invited to her graveside service on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 11:00am at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angela’s name can be made to Ascend Hospice, 1120 Welsh Road, Suite 220, Gwynedd Corporate Center, North Wales, PA 19454.
