Benjamin Stephen Jankowski III
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ben Jankowski after a brief but hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Brenda (nee Bachelor) and daughters Kathryn and Alexandra (husband Ben Slover). He is also survived by sisters Karen Morrone (husband Drew) and Nancy Jankowski, and brother Charles (wife Jennifer).
Ben grew up in Morrisville PA and attended Pennsbury High School. He was a 1982 alumnus of Klein College of Media and Communication at Temple University, where he met his wife, Brenda.
Ben was a leader in the advertising and media industry, and held various positions at agencies and marketers. He was a true global media executive, having worked in over 60 countries during his career, and served on numerous industry boards, awards juries, and conference programs. Most importantly to Ben, he was a mentor, coach, and advisor to all who worked with him, providing business smarts, but also a lot of light-heartedness and fun.
In addition to this passion for his work, Ben was an avid fan of Philadelphia Sports, the Missouri Tigers (his daughters’ alma mater), Bruce Springsteen, and golf. He was always there to sing in the car, rally friends for a round of online poker, rewatch a classic movie, or play a board game.
Ben was a huge fan of Temple sports and, in recent years, was an Adjunct Instructor in the Advertising department and served as a member of the Dean’s Board of Visitors. He and Brenda have established the Jankowski Family Strategic Communications Scholarship and are raising funds for a dedicated student collaboration workspace, to be located in the new Klein College building.
Ben and his family ask that if you are so moved, in lieu of flowers, please consider honoring him by making a tax-deductible contribution to this fund in his memory. To learn more and contribute to the fund, please visit giving.temple.edu/jankowski
