Robert Lee Miller

Robert Lee Miller, of Jamison, PA passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Doylestown Hospital. He was 56 years old.

For 32 years, Robert was married to the love of his life, Christine Finley Miller. They met as students at Elizabethtown College, and together raised three children. They made loving homes and lifelong friendships in Downingtown, Pennsylvania; Seabrook, Texas; and Jamison, Pennsylvania, which has been their home and community for the past 16 years.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Robert knows that he had two great passions in his life – the first was his family. Robert was an extraordinary and devoted father to Kyle (27), Sean (24) and Makayla (18). He loved his family with every ounce of his being, and generously gave his all to them. As a stay-at-home parent, Robert also poured himself into enriching the lives of not only his own children, but other students and educators. Coaching, chaperoning school field trips, and serving as president of the PTA were just a few of the many ways in which he embraced his life’s vocation.

Robert’s second passion was soccer. His time as a member of the Waynesboro Area High School soccer team sparked within Robert the deep joy and growth that comes from being part of a team. Over the next 35 years, he could be found on the soccer field, lending his strengths and gifts to coach dozens of teams and mentor thousands of youth players. He volunteered countless hours to the Warrington Soccer Club, serving as a coach and board member, including president of the board. He also was on the staff of CB South High School and Pennridge High School Girls Soccer Teams. Robert remained in contact with many of his players over the years, even as they started families of their own. It gave him great joy to see the lasting, positive impact that leadership and teamwork had on his players’ lives.

Robert led a life unsurpassed. He never met a stranger, and he brought light and kindness to any room he entered. His generosity had no limits, and he asked nothing in return. It is a true testament to his life that he made those around him better, from his family and many friends to the broader community. His legacy lives on through those who loved him so very much.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Miller, and his mother, Nancy Wolfinger. In addition to his loving wife, those left to cherish his memory include his children: Kyle and Nicole (Christiansen) Miller of Hatfield, Sean Miller of Jamison, and Makayla Miller of Jamison; his parents-in-law Robert and Carole Finley of Richboro; brothers-in-law Robert Finley, Jr. of Monroe, Louisiana, and John Finley and his wife Dawn of Hilltown; sister-in-law Susan Lanshe of Richboro; and sister Christine Reed, of Ponte Vedra, Florida. As well as his many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Robert’s viewing on Friday, March 25, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and on Saturday, March 26, from 10:00 am until Words of Remembrance at 10:55 am, followed by his 11:00 am Funeral Mass, at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church 1410 Almshouse Rd. Jamison, PA 18929.  His interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Richboro, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests those seeking to honor Robert’s legacy consider contributions to the Robert Miller Scholarship Fund, c/o Warrington Soccer Club, P.O. Box 605, Warrington, PA 18976. Robert loved seeing the soccer fields filled with players, and these scholarship dollars will be used to offset the registration costs for youth soccer players.
