Carol Jeanne Speirs (Wenzel)

Carol Jeanne Speirs of Churchville, PA died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, May 16, 2020.  She was 76.

Born in Orange, New Jersey, Carol was the beloved wife of the late Robert Speirs and the daughter to the late Frederick and Rose Gibson Wenzel.

Carol grew up in Florham Part, NJ. She went to Upsala College and then trained at Morristown Medical Center, NJ in Radiology where she met her loving husband, Bob. She worked at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ and at Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ. Carol and Bob raised their three children in Lopatcong Township, NJ where she also worked, volunteered full time at the school library, was active in her church and participated in many craft shows. She was involved in Kairos Prison Ministry, on Vestry, Search Committees, Christian Clowning and much more.  Carol and Bob were one of the originators of Ark Soup Kitchen at Trinity Episcopal Church and a free Medical Clinic in downtown Allentown, PA. They also were trained as Christian Leaders through Cursillo.

Once Carol became an Oma she moved with her daughter, son-in-law and grandsons into a historic Mother and Daughter property in Bucks County. Here she became Oma to all… adults and children alike! She continued volunteering at her new church, Redemption Episcopal, where she was a dedicated member of the Crafty Ladies. Oma attended every game, concert and event of her grandson’s and cherished the opportunity to watch them grow. She was always one to give a hug and help out in any way possible. There were times when money was tight & she would still GIVE. She knew the Lord would provide. Oma always had Christ in her heart and this along with her positive attitude was contagious! She trusted the Lord so much that she was always at peace during the good times and bad. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:4

Carol- The life she lived, the love she shared, the hearts she touched…the amazing woman she was. We know your spirit lives on in all of the lives you touched.

Carol is survived by her loving and devoted children: Khara D. Flint and her husband Thomas of Churchville, Kyle Speirs of Chicago, IL and Kreg D. Speirs of Philadelphia.  She is also survived by her brother John Wenzel and his wife Jennifer, her two grandsons Ayden and Nolan Flint, and the family members that were invited into the family by Carol and Robert: Elizabeth, Joshua, and Tyler Santana.
