Thomas Joseph Deegan
Thomas “Tom” Joseph Deegan passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on March 3, 2020. He was 56.
Tom was the beloved husband to Lori E. Margulies Deegan for 33 years.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Margaret F. Carboy Deegan and the late Thomas L. Deegan.
Tom grew up in Holland, Bucks County and attended Archbishop Wood High School. He earned a MBA at La Salle University. He worked in the wholesale lumber business for thirty five years, eventually becoming president and shared owner of Lumbermen Associates, Inc in Bristol PA.
Tom enjoyed many sports; playing competitive racquetball, coaching his children’s sport teams and running. The 2000 New York Marathon was his first major event. Tom competed in over 30 marathons and triathlons, training for his most difficult race the 2011 Ironman competition.
Tom loved traveling with his wife and recently returned from a trip from Italy, visiting the Vatican, Assisi and San Giovanni Rotunda The Home of the Shrine of Padre Pio, his beloved Saint. They also visited Fatima, Portugal and Lourdes, France on a pilgrimage for spiritual and physical healing. Tom was a man of great faith, strength, humility and compassion. He loved his family and was an inspiration to many in his courageous fight against brain cancer.
In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by his loving children; Tanner, Kelsey, Jillian and Zachary Deegan, as well as his siblings; Peggianne Ovodock (Robert), Timothy Deegan (Chrissy), Colleen Behm (John), and Patrice Murphy (Stephen), as well as 16 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. (at Holland Rd.), Richboro, PA 18954, and again on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 10:00 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:00 AM at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940. His interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Newtown.
