Jene M. Heckler (Tweed)
Jene M. Heckler, of North Wales, PA died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at Doylestown Hospital. She was 83.
She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Preston Heckler.
Born in Roxborough, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Marie Mahan Tweed and sister of the late Phyllis Bradley.
Jene grew up in Colmar and was a 1944 graduate of Lansdale High School. She married shortly after graduating high school and worked with her husband on their farm and in the management of his hauling business.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking, horse racing and bowling on Thursday mornings with her Flower League friends. Jene especially treasured spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love for her family, her wisdom and guidance, her love of cooking, and her wonderful sense of humor will be remembered and cherished.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Susan Heckler Simonovich and her husband Peter of North Wales, John P. Heckler and his wife Susan of Perkasie, Karen J. Knapp of Honeybrook, PA, Clayton Heckler and his wife Laura of Sellersville, her sister Doris Newkirk and her husband Charles of Egg Harbor, NJ; and 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A private funeral service was held by the family. A public celebration/memorial service will be held on September 17, 2011, time and place to be announced at a later date.
