Thomas F. Gibbons Jr.

Thomas F. Gibbons Jr. (47) of Lansdale, died tragically on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Atlantic County Regional Medical Center, after he and his wife were struck by a car at 8th Street and Bay Avenue in Ocean City, NJ.

Born in Meadowbrook, PA, Tom was the beloved husband and best friend for 21 years to Stephanie M. (nee Baker). He was the devoted son of Thomas F. Gibbons Sr., and Andrea Fluehr Albert.  He was the loving father of Grace E. and Emma C. Gibbons and dear brother of Meg Miller, (Dan).

Tom, as he was best known, was raised in Southampton, PA.  He was a graduate of LaSalle College High School, class of 1989, and then continued his education at Drexel University where he was selected for a special engineering program.  While attending Drexel, he was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma where he formed lifelong friendships with his fraternity brothers. He was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, with honors, in 1994 from Drexel University.

Tom’s 25 year career in engineering, though short, was very rewarding.  He specialized in high-speed communication technologies and began his career with a startup company called Multilink. He moved his family to the Lehigh Valley area so he could work for a semi conductor company called Agere.  Through various mergers, he was ultimately employed by Broadcom. During his career, Tom has been awarded with several U.S. Patents in Engineering.

Tom loved the outdoors.  In the winter, he enjoyed skiing with his daughters.  In the warmer months, Ocean City, NJ was always his favorite destination; whether it was the boardwalk, beach or bay, Tom loved it all.

Tom is survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Susan and Harley Baker, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marsi Walker and her husband Richard. He is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Tom’s family will receive condolences on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain, PA 18901.  His Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, May 31st at 11:00AM in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 990 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, where his family will receive condolences from 9:30 a.m. until Words of Remembrance beginning at 10:45 a.m. His interment will be at Doylestown Cemetery, Doylestown.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Gibbons Children Educational Fund c/o 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd. Richboro, PA 18954.
