Mary Catherine Wettstein (Schneider)

Mary Catherine Schneider Wettstein, of Yardley (Langhorne) PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Her three loving daughters were at her side after a seven-year “long goodbye”.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on April 13, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Clara Schneider.  Mary is also predeceased by her sons, Michael Wettstein and Thomas Wettstein (Weston); her brother, the Rev. Robert Schneider; and her husband of 64 years, Karl J. Wettstein.

Mary and Karl experienced 25 work-related moves, and the blessings of five children in as many states. Her years as a young mother in Europe were definitely a family bonding adventure!

Mary could throw a party! She was the ultimate hostess for corporate dinners and evenings with friends. Her family has warm memories of holiday gatherings, and can still hear her words of caution, ”Don’t break the Rosenthal China!" Mary had a way of making everyone feel welcome. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.

In retirement, Mary and Karl enjoyed traveling the world, and spent their winters in AZ golfing and visiting with family.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Kathy Weston of Yardley, PA, Diane Calvin (Michael) of Horsham, PA and Carol Young (Daniel) of Parkton, MD. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Gravning of Phoenix, AZ, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 28th at 12:30 pm at Joseph Fluehr III Funeral Home - 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA 18954. A service to celebrate Mary's life will begin at 1:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gloria Dei Memory Care in Hatboro for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd Street, 16th Floor New York, NY 10017.
