Frederick William May
Frederick William May of Doylestown, PA died July 8, 2017, at home surrounded by family.
He was born October 1, 1925 in Buffalo, New York, the eldest child of the late Victoria Jakubczak and William May. On June 12, 1948 he married Stella Piechocinski who survives.
A first generation Polish American, he proudly served in the US Navy as a Sea Bee during World War II at Mariana Islands and Guam. Upon return he attended the University of Buffalo and was employed at National Gypsum and American Standard. He later was employed by Exxon and Singer in New Jersey.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah May and George McLaughlin of Austin, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Frederick William May Junior and Judy Rossell of Chalfont, PA.; daughter and son-in-law Adrianne May and Francis Manero of Chalfont, PA; 9 grandchildren; Frederick W. May III, Amanda M. Manero, Victoria (Nolan) McClosky, Tiffany R May, George F. McLaughlin, Matthew R. May, Margot M. McLaughlin, Eric F. Manero, Michael C. May and one great-grandchild, Craig John McClosky who was born six days before the death of Fred May.
Mr. May was preceded in death by his brother Joseph May (Evelyn) and sister Virginia Tiebor (John dec.).
Aside for the love of his family; Fred was an avid golfer who was introduced to the game as a youth caddying at the Park Country Club in Buffalo, NY. He was a member of Cherry Hill Country Club and Huntington Valley Country Club; Fred was an usher at Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine and member of Saint Jude Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Affairs, American Legion and Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Monday July 17th from 10:30 AM until his Funeral Mass 11:30 am at Saint Jude Roman Catholic Church, 321 West Butler Avenue; Chalfont, PA. Interment with Military honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to your local American Legion.
