My deepest sympathy is with you Karen, and your family.

Jayne ByerSunday, July 23rd

My deepest sympathy to your family. It’s heartbreaking to lose a parent. I’m so glad I had the chance to meet your dad at family gatherings. He truly was very special and will always remain in our hearts.

Bernie ShannonSunday, July 23rd

I have had the honor of working under John a few different times in my career and it was always pleasure. His passion, energy, knowledge and love for Aramark and the supply chain business was second to none. He always challenged the teams he led but more importantly John would always be supportive in what we needed to be successful. I feel lucky to have learned so much from John and have some good laughs with him over the years.
Cheers to a good man and my thoughts are with his family who I know he cared deeply.

BLASE IACONELLISunday, July 23rd

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we hope you find some comfort in the many lives John touched with family, friends and many others who were left better from the meeting. May your faith sustain you in the sure knowledge that we will all meet again. John was a good man and we are diminished by his passing, but he will never be forgotten by those who shared our lives with him.

David RaderSunday, July 23rd

My heart goes out to Karen and the rest of the family at this most difficult time. You have lost a truly one-of-a-kind husband, father and grandfather. I knew and worked for John for forty-plus years and knew him to be one of the sharpest minds I've ever known. He could be direct and tough but also kind and considerate. John constantly challenged us to excel. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Johnny O (as we called him), and may light perpetual shine upon you.

Wojciech BisztaSunday, July 23rd

I was privileged to have worked with John for a few years at Aramark. He has always struck me as a genuine, passionate and caring leader, who cared for his people as much as he cared for the company. He always made time to ask about your family and you knew that when he spoke to you, you had his complete and undivided attention. John was also a very accomplished and respected business leader, who made people he worked with better.

My deepest condolences to John's family on the loss of a wonderful man.

Pritesh LadMonday, July 24th

We are deeply saddened with John's passing, and for this great loss that Karen, David, Johnny and Patty and entire family and John's many loving friends must now endure. Having the honor to know John the past 47 years has meant the chance to see and love someone who each and every year radiated more love and joy for family, colleagues, and for life. He handled every situation with grace and an overflowing generosity of spirit. The world has lost a great dad, husband, grandfather, colleague - a great American. In all these respects, including how he handled this battle with such a cruel disease, he leaves a model for all of us to emulate. We know his body and soul are at peace, knowing he succeeded in doing all he could on this earth to make it, and all of us, better.

Steve SimoneMonday, July 24th

My sincere condolences to Karen and the entire family. I am very proud to have known and worked for John for over twenty years. He was an industry giant and earned the respect of our supplier partners and all who have worked with him. He was an incredible leader and always got more out of all of us, than anyone would have thought possible. I will miss him and always apply what I have learned from him. I am truly grateful to have known him. God Bless you John.

Steven WernerMonday, July 24th

I am deeply saddened by the news of your loss. I had the privilege of working for him at Aramark / Avendra, and I can say without hesitation that he was one of the kindest and most inspiring leaders I have ever met. He always had a positive attitude, a generous spirit, and a genuine interest in the well-being of his colleagues and clients. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that you are in my thoughts during this difficult time.

MARGE ELLIOTTMonday, July 24th

My deepest condolences to Karen, and family. The last email I received from John, was his response to my congratulations for being the recipient of the Neubauer Award. I was and am so happy for this acknowledgement from Aramark, as John was so devoted. His closing line was to me, giving me thanks for all I do for or Team. I must say, when he rejoined us, I loved seeing him every morning as he sat in an office close to me. He will be truly missed and we now have a New Angel looking out for all of us.

Joseph W. Murray, Sr.Monday, July 24th

My Condolences and Prayers for the Orobono Family. John, was a remarkable student and friend to me at St. James. He was never too busy to assist me in understanding subject matter I experienced difficulty grasping. I regret not actively staying in contact with him after St. James but in life I would like to think I practiced his lessons learned philosophy. Rest in peace in Our Savior’s Arms Old Friend.

I had the pleasure of working for John for the last 20 plus years, and had the honor of his trust to sit just outside of his office and sharing that "thin wall" for 10 + years. He not only taught me a great deal about Supply Chain, but was such a humble and genuine person and he offered advice on life when both of my kids were born. When John gave you his word that something would get done, it always did! He always had a smile and a laugh and would always provide time to counsel if you asked and he provided his attention despite his busy schedule. I am a richer person for having known John and the world would be a better place if there were more like him. I offer my heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers to Karen and the entire Orobono family; he will be truly missed. May God grant you peace during this difficult time.

Ron and Sue ThomasMonday, July 24th

Our deepest sympathy for Karen (Greenie), John, David, Patty and the rest of the family. Johhny and I go back to first grade at St. Anthony's, then as Bulldogs and finally, as Hawks. A lot of great memories and shared experiences. Even as a young lad, John had the "it" factor; a charisma that drew others into his orbit, and we were all the better for it.
Rest well, buddy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Orobono family during this most difficult time. As many have reflected on working with John, I too was fortunate to have known John. One thing about John, he always talked about how much he admired his wife and family. Every time I spoke with him, he had something to say about his family. He had a profound effect on my leadership at Aramark. I went to him many times for counsel and advice. My heart hurts knowing I will not have that opportunity again. However, John will now be able to rest. His work on earth is done. He will be missed by many but will never be forgotten.

Larysa IhnatowyczMonday, July 24th

John was one of a kind! He was the toughest negotiator and yet kind and considerate. He was so very charismatic and had a contagious smile that would light up a room.
I had the pleasure of working under John in the early 2000s…a true leader.
May John’s memory be a blessing.

It saddens me and hurts my heart to know that the Orobono family has lost a father, a husband a brother and grandfather. He fought cancer with everything in his power. I’ve known Karen and John for over 50 years and in those years we have shared many happy and funny moments. Life is a journey and he had many incredible adventures. My love to the Orobono Family.

The opportunity to work with and to know John has been a real blessing for me; I consider us all blessed and better off for having known him. John emulated authentic care and compassion for people, which made him such an inspiring leader and a tremendous example to others. His loss will be felt deeply, but I hope that his legacy will continue. Thank you, his family, for sharing him with us, his colleagues, so generously. You have my deepest condolences.

I have had the joy of knowing John since elementary school at St. Anthony’s
in Chester, PA.

I have many happy memories of John like spending time at Chester Park playing tennis. I had the privilege of being on the Varsity Tennis team with John.

We all enjoyed seeing John at a special gathering of some St. Anthony’s alumni at Fredie Marchiani’s house in the last couple years.

My sincerest condolences to the family.

I've known John for over 20 years. He has always been a role model to me. He was deeply passionate about his profession and fiercely loyal to his team - but most of all, John ALWAYS kind and supportive to everyone he encountered. I have witnessed John go through good times and bad - but his authentic concern for the well-being of others never wavered. I am a better person for having known John - and will be forever grateful for our time together. I wish peace to his family and loved ones. chris

“But what is grief if not love persevering?”

Jim WorrallThursday, July 27th

On behalf of Good Source Solutions, I want to express our sadness and sympathy to John's family, and share some thoughts about John. As a supplier of Aramark for multiple decades, I have known John to be very smart, a leader, most professional, a true gentleman, and the best negotiator in the foodservice industry. Above all he was fair, respectful, honest, and caring, and for all of these reasons and more John is genuinely held with utmost respect and admiration. I recall conversations with John about Philadelphia sports teams and how passionate John was about his teams, about Aramark, and his family. John has been a guiding light in our foodservice industry and has set the bar for achievement for so many.

Good Source Solutions is sending a contribution in John's memory to Abramson Cancer Center, c/o Development Office, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

Karen, David and (young) John...the prayers of my family and me are with all of you and your family.

Psalm 90 is the only Psalm attributed to Moses. It's final stanzas are a prayer by Moses to God: "Establish the work of our hands, yes, establish the work of our hands."

He has answered that prayer for John, by establishing all of you and the rest of the family. And the best of any parent lives on in their children.

May that be so here.

Peace.

Jim for Meredith, Frank, Jack and himself

Anthony ManniWednesday, September 6th

Dear Karen (Greenie), John, David, Patty and the Orobono family, I was deeply saddened to learn of John’s passing. John and I were neighbors in Chester, born a week apart. We have known each other our entire lives. In many ways, John was my 3rd brother.

I have so many memories with John and our fathers growing up together. Everything started on Butler St and continued forward. He was best man at my wedding and I treasured our friendship. We spoke as often as we could, other times a simple text was sufficient.

There are no words that can assuage you of your grief. However, know that John was loved by all who that the pleasure of knowing him. He will never be forgotten by those who shared their lives with him.

Rest in Peace Dear Friend

Anthony and Gretta Manni
