Condolences for Robert J. Finley

Carl CamarotaThursday, May 5th

I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Bob’s family. I was hired by Bob at Betz and worked there more than 16 years as a Delivery Specialist. He was someone who you wanted to work for. Bob was a gentleman, a cheerleader, an advocate, and a friend.
Bob was someone we all looked up to and someone we all respected.
Godspeed Bob! May you Rest In Peace!

The days of Betz and the Richboro Swim Club seem like eons ago, but Mr. Finley has always been present throughout my life, from being my father's superior officer at Betz and lifelong friend, to giving me my first job at the swim club, to supporting my family through my dad's health battles, even in the event of his passing. His devotion and commitment to those in his sphere was unwavering and deeply sincere. Humanity has lost an invaluable asset, his friends have lost a steadfast compatriot and confidant, and I can't even imagine the loss for his family. Thank you for everything, Mr. Finley. Rest in the peace of knowing that you've improved the lives of everyone that has had the fortune of knowing you.

I knew Bob since we were kids on 19th street! A good friend, school mate, altar boy, ball teams and just hanging out on the corner! We talked every month since my wife passed. He was there for me during some dark days! His dad would take us to play games in the Mrs.Smith’s truck with the pies in the back! His opening words” don’t touch those pies”! We never did. His mother could do double Dutch ropes with the young girls! Amazing! No wonder Bob was such a good guy! He will be greatly missed!

My whole heart goes out to the Finley family (and friends who are family). Whether as a little girl or as an adult at my wedding (surrounded by my new 6 foot plus in-laws), I have always felt supported by my own real-life gentle giant in Grandpop Finley. His acumen in every discipline you can think of was only trumped by his compassion; characteristics I was lucky enough to experience, briefly, in his parents, too. Thank you Grandpop and Grandmom Finley for the space to curate those memories and love.

It was such a pleasure and fun knowing Bob as little as I did. He was one of the very few self made men I’ve had the great fortune to talk to. I will truly miss Bob and his take on life. RIP BOB

It has been a joy to know Bob for the 10 years we have lived next door. I have fond memories of chatting with Bob when doing yardwork. He had a gift of making you feel uplifted and energized after chatting with him. My only regret is not having known him longer. Today, I saw a red cardinal in my backyard and read that a red cardinal means that a family member or friend is safe and happy, even if they are far away. Bob you will always have a special place in our heart.

Reading posted condolences for Bob and they are all true. I can relate one tidbit...Bob rifled a throw and threw me out sliding into third base from right field while playing in a BETZ softball game. A gentle man and God Bless Bob.

I remember him coming to see the girls, Fiona, Kiersten and Annabelle at Welch Elementary when I worked in the front office. Such a friendly and nice man and a great family. So very sorry for your loss!

I was saddened to hear of Bob's death. He was truly a gentleman and a genuinely nice man. He always had a smile, a warm greeting, and took the time to stop and chat. My sympathies to Carol and the Finley family.
