I knew Jim for a short time at AMAG and was able to see his passion for his family, his staff and for making people around him better. His teachings to those he interacted with have created a legacy. Bless the family and Jim during this time of remembering his life.

Todd WoodFriday, July 23rd

When I was hired by Ther Rx, Jim was one of the people who interviewed me. From the time I was hired up until about a year ago Jim and I would occasionally reach out to each other. Jim always made me feel like I mattered and for that I’m forever grateful for his guidance and friendship. I’m so sorry for your loss!

Mark BolsiusFriday, July 23rd

I had the pleasure of working with Jim in the training department when we both lived in Kansas City. Working with Spags was one of the greatest pleasures of my career. Jim was loved and respected by everybody. Eve and Alexa, I am so sorry for your loss. A picture of the team we worked on together in KC still hangs in my office today. I loved Jim Spagnola!

Sandi Zollo KenderdineFriday, July 23rd

Heartfelt thoughts & prayers to Eve & Alexa. I was so incredibly lucky to know & work for Jim for many years when he was my Regional Sales Director. I used to tease him & tell him that he scared the bedickens out of me, but he knew that I meant it in the best sense. He challenged me & made me think differently. Jim was a remarkable & inspiring leader. A true unique. He was able to get the best out of his people & he always made you feel special. When i think of my favorite, most happiest & successful time during my career, it was during the Spagnola era & I was always proud to brag “I’m a Spagnola rep.” There are countless people who have been blessed to work in some capacity with Jim who will tell you what a difference he made in all of our lives. God bless you Jim~we love you, we thank you for all you did & we will miss you terribly. I’m attaching a picture I took of Jim & Eve at a holiday party.

Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear this. Jim had more impact on me as a leader of people than anyone else that I have worked for in my career. He taught me so many things that I still reflect on daily these 16/17 years later. The last time I spoke to Jim was about a year and a half ago. Before we hung up I had the urge to tell him how much he taught me and what kind of impact he made. I am so glad I did. I had no idea it would the last time we spoke. Beyond being a great leader he was also just a really good man. He was a great friend to many. He loved his family so much. He always spoke of Eve and Alexa with great love and pride. My heart goes out to them. There are no words to express how sorry I am.

Eric BudendorfFriday, July 23rd

Words can not express how much Spags will be missed. I was blessed to have worked under him, and have fond memories I will always cherish. A wise man taken to early. I will miss you.

Dana Shak-BenderFriday, July 23rd

Words can not express how sorry I am to hear of Jim’s passing. I have known Jim for over 20 years since I started working in the pharmaceutical industry. We have stayed in touch regularly over the years even though we are no longer at the same company. Jim had a tremendous impact on me professionally and personally. He was a kind, caring, talented and compassionate leader and also an amazing human.

Jim taught me so much over the years and also was a great friend and supporter during some of the most challenging times of my life. My family has always been fond of Jim due to the kindness that Jim and Eve have shown all of us over the years. Eve and Alexa you are both in my thoughts and prayers. We wish you peace at this difficult time.

Our dear beloved leader who became a friend then family! I observed him for years give endlessly of himself to uplift others and champion the values of kindness, respect and integrity. An educator to the core and a forever friend. We will cherish our memories as they were plentiful and full of laughter. Jim, praying for you and your family always.

I had the pleasure of with Jim at Marion Merrill Dow when I was in Kansas City. I initially knew him from Sales training when I was group leader and ultimately became friends after moving to KC. Jin was one of those people that made you feel like you were his most important friend when you spent time with him. His compassion, kindness, and overall goodness as a person left a last effect on me. I lost touch for a few years and we connected again a year or so ago, it was like we had never missed a minute. He was a great man. Eve and Alexa, I am truly sorry for your loss, and I know you know just how great he was. We lost one of the truly good ones!!

Sal GoldbergFriday, July 23rd

So sorry to hear about Jim's passing ... again. I remember having spent lots of time with Jim at meetings back in my earlier days of Marion Labs. Jim was just such a solid, real, down to earth person. Of all the people I had met in the organization, Jim was someone I always looked up to and reached out to, to spend some time & just talk. I remember at one of these meetings, we had discussed his NDE rather in depth. I hope & pray that Eve & Alexa are comforted by the thoughts & prayers of friends& loved ones.

Jim DevittFriday, July 23rd

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I worked with Jim at Sanofi and the legacy companies for many years. Jim was a great man, amazing leader and truly cared about people. He was kind, thoughtful and made us all better leaders and individuals. Jim went out of his way so many times to help me and my son when we were looking for work. It was just the kind of person he was.

My condolences to the family. He will be missed.

Deb and I were so saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. Jim and I worked together in a variety of roles at Marion and subsequent companies. As all can attest, Jim was one of the most sincere and caring friends/co-workers you could ever hope for. We also had some very memorable times coaching boys basketball together. He will be greatly missed, but he also left a lasting mark on many lives. Our prayers for God’s peace are with you Eve and Alexa.

As fine a man as any we might hope to meet on this earth. Humble, dedicated, compassionate, loyal...I've known Jim Spagnola for some 35 years. I had hoped to know him for another 35. My family's prayers are for Eve and Alexa - but I am certain Heaven is a better place today. God Bless You, Jim. And thank you. You made us all better

Bob SteckelFriday, July 23rd

Maria, Mike, Eve, and Alexa,
I was deeply saddened to find out from Maria and Mike that Jimmy was ill and then went to be with our Lord. Jimmy was a wonderful friend, an outstanding student and tremendous athlete. Jimmy’s parents, may they Rest In Peace, and sister taught him by example true family values. Jimmy treated his friends like brothers and his family accepted us like their children. I recall many days and nights spending time with Jimmy and his family. I enjoyed great food and fellowship. I was more than welcome at his home and Jimmy enjoyed his time sharing his mom and dad with me. The stories will not be forgotten. He will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Mike- Thank you for staying strong and supporting the family.
Maria - Thank you for treating me like a brother.
Eve and Alexa - Please know your husband and dad was a true friend and gentleman.
Jimmy - May you Rest In Peace, my friend.

Bob

Like so many others, I don’t have the right words to express my sadness at Jim’s passing. In my mind, he was an amazing, humble and talented man. He was an incredible human. From a professional perspective, there has been no one who has impacted me more than Jim. He taught me so much. He taught me to “look in the mirror first” before making any judgement. I shamelessly steal this from him as I lead my team and raise my children. I am so honored to have been able to work for him. Over the past few days, so many of us have connected after years apart, and we have reminisced about the times that we shared with Jim, and the amazing memories we have. This is perhaps one of the greatest gifts that Jim has left us with. A lifelong connection and friendships with so many. My heart and my prayers go to Eve and Alexa. But please know that he was respected, admired and loved by so many. With much love and my deepest condolences, Small. (A nickname that he gave that still lives on today. I hold it close to my heart.)

I am SO SORRY to hear of Jim's passing. He and I worked closely together at Marion, Marion Merrell Dow, etc., for many years and I SO ENJOYED his friendship and professional expertise. I last saw JIm in the Philly airport several years ago and we both had an hour or so before our flights and remembered all of our terrific times together. I am SO VERY SORRY but know that your Faith, Family and Friends will bring you comfort as you celebrate on TERRIFIC LIFE! Regards, Greg Lund.

Jim Spagnola a great man. Thank you Eve and Alexa for sharing him with the rest of the world. He was one of the few GREAT human beings in the world who cared about it ALL. Jim had the rare ability to make people he spoke with feel better about themselves and what they could do. Jim had family values and a moral compass that I was happy to follow, he did God’s work every day of his life being the example he was to all of us, he never wavered, always showed his positivity and great outlook to make this world better.

Jim coached the basketball team at Great Valley high school while I coached the wrestling team, and it was our first jobs out of college. Jim made coaching and teaching fun because he had a witty sense of humor, and he also tried to help his students become better athletes and people! My condolences to his family he will be dearly missed!

Many years have passed since Jimmy and I were colleagues. His sincerity and interest in working with people made him a special person. Tragic to lose a true gentleman and devoted husband and father so young.

Joe GolicherSunday, July 25th

Too soon a loss of a truly rare person, who had a positive impact on many...Jim Spagnola was one of the 5 mentors you may be lucky enough to know in a lifetime, who held high standards and expectations, walked the talk, and supported his people..."never lower standards, and teach and train to the high bar"...still refer to my notes from his MDA and ALT class, which we chuckled about, along w getting lost in Paris on a COE trip, when we met over breakfast not too long ago. Several names on this condolence string, I'm certain impacted Jim as well, and shaped his priciples, which he passed along to many, who then were able to pass along to others...an amazing culture. My heartfelt sympathy and prayers to Eve and Alexa, on behalf of the Golicher Family... Jim, Rest in Peace.

Kristin FinkSunday, July 25th

First to Eve and Alexa, my deepest condolences to you. Your loss is unimaginable. As the Irish blessing says, may God hold you in the palm of his hand until you meet again.

Jim, Jim, Jim. I don’t know where to start. The impact you had on me professionally and personally is so strong, I just wish you know. The indelible mark you have had on so many is a legacy you should be so proud of. But knowing you, you would be to humble to acknowledge. The countless lessons, the countless laughs, and the relentless commitment to making a difference. Making a difference to the patients we served and to the people we led. I will continue to strive to be a leader you would be proud of. And when facing a challenge, I will always stop and say, “what would Spags do?” You will be so missed. May God hold you close.

Steve PolinskySunday, July 25th

Eve and Alexa,

Jim… you leave behind a beautiful legacy of your amazing spirit that touched all of us. I am so sadden by your passing at such a very young age. May your spirit pass peacefully and may the Holy Spirit stand beside your wife and daughter during this time.

Chris WalterSunday, July 25th

Eve and Alexa, my heart goes out to you both, and our family is praying for you and here for you.

Jim. Where to begin. I learned so much from you about life and leadership when you gave me my start as a young leader. I reach for those lessons to this day, 19 years later. You modeled putting your family at the very center, and caring deeply about people - enough to invest in them and coach them. And the binders! Oh man, I remember onboarding with you as a new DM at the Ft. Washington office and talking through, piece by piece, what it means to be a leader. Your intentionality and passion for patients and leadership was always inspiring. I love that we kept up our Christmas cards through the years. And our last conversation, a few years ago when we were still in MA, when I saw you on a business trip. So glad I had the chance to say how much I appreciate you and the example you set. Thank you.

Jackie RieckSunday, July 25th

Eve and Alexa, I am so sorry for your loss. I so enjoyed working with Jim. He was a kind, giving and very hard working colleague. He had great insights and always took the time to talk. He put others before himself. I am blessed to have been working with him for the last 15 months. I will miss him and our daily interactions. Know that God is watching over you and Jim. He will greatly be missed!

Lori GildeaMonday, July 26th

It so incredibly sad to learn of Jim’s passing and he leaves a wide and broad legacy. He was highly respected and admired by the individuals who knew him. I had the privilege to work for and with Jim at Aventis/Sanofi. He was an inspiring and humble leader and an amazing and kind person. When I was a District Manager, he guided me to “seek first to understand” before making any judgement or decisions. His leadership influenced me in both a professional and personal manner that continues through today. I am grateful to have known him and worked for him. Jim leaves us a gift that unites so many of us…lifelong connections and friendships with former colleagues and peers. My prayers go to Eve and Alexa…Jim adored you both and was so proud to be your husband and father. With my deepest condolences.

Dave FlowerMonday, July 26th

Condolences and prayers from the Flower Family. Godspeed to you Jim, and a prayer for comfort and grace to Eve, Alexa, and the Spagnola Family. Always great guidance as a mentor during the Marion Labs DM days. Whether it was his words of leadership in meetings, a side bar chat about the delicate balance of managing and caring about people, helping me thru the excruciating tasks of a downsizing, or talking college basketball in the exercise room at the hotel, Jim always held a humble, firm stance with few but very valuable words. Firm in his leadership, resolute by example, gentle with his guidance, always a consistent rock. Jimmy Spags, I consider myself very lucky to have known you and to have learned from you. One of the "good guys". Godspeed Jimmy. May you rest well.

It brings me great comfort to read all the inspiring moments that so many have experienced as a result of Jim being in their lives. I too am one of those individuals and I will be forever grateful and honored to have been a friend & student of Jim’s teachings. He has done so much for me professionally and personally. Rest in Peace, Jim!
My sincere condolences to Eve and Alexa for your sudden and unmeasurable loss.
I had a privilege to work with Jim at Sanofi, when he made significant contributions in multiple sales leadership roles. Jim's attitude towards people and me personally, was always extremely uplifting. I think it's because he genuinely believed in people and provided us all with a great deal of mentorship and support to make us not only better at work but also better humans. He made a tremendous mark on everyone who met him.
Jim, you will be greatly missed ...

Marissa Liu-GlaisterFriday, July 30th

Thinking of all of you and sending prayers. Like so many others, Jim made an incredible impact in my professional development. He taught me so many things - so much about what a great leader looks like - and how that meant learning to be both vulnerable and strong. No doubt I still have a lot to learn but I am better today because of the time I spent working with him.
