What an honor it was to be one of Jim's student in St Michaels! His guidance, mentoring as well as being a teacher provided encouragement which inspired me to join the girls basketball team for which I probably wouldnt have without him! I fondly recall a parent teacher report card moment as he spoke to my Mom with qualities I never knew existed within me :D You will be missed dearly by those who have been Blessed to cross paths with you!! You fought a good fight! Please high five my Dad for me up there!! Until we meet again!! God Bless the Fenerty Family, friends and relatives!!
Coach Fenerty was a gracious opponent at Bishop Egan and remained a good friend during his many successful years at GA. Our sincere condolences to his wife and family.

Mary and family: I first met Jim in 1977 and was on the court for his first High School win at Bishop Egan. He was a good and kind man who positively impacted hundreds over the course of his long educational and coaching career. Although I hadn't seen him for a while, I followed his career and I echo the thoughts of so many of the people who are posting condolences and tributes about Jim. His contributions to GA cannot be overstated and we are all better for the time we spent with him. Please cherish the good times you had with him.

Hi Mary,
My condolences to you and your family. I am praying for God's strength to be upon you.
Our prayers and love go to your family. The day our Brian met Jim was the best day of his life. He taught Brian on and off the court. He is looking down on us all forming his team in heaven. A great coach but more important a great, kind and loving person. Bless you all.
A great coach, but a better human being. A selfless man who was a fine mentor to young people and a great supporter of Coaches vs. Cancer in our area. Nothing was ever about him. RIP, Jim. Special prayers to your family.
Dear Mary and family,
Please accept my most sincere sympathy for your loss. Jim was a great guy and my heart goes out to you and yours.
I first met Jim as a student at St. Mike’s and than later at Bishop Conwell. We had a great relationship …he called me his little sister. I still have the card and note he sent me at graduation. Jim helped instill in his students a confidence that they probably didn’t know was possible. He truly was a great man, mentor and educator. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband, father, brother and grandfather. I will always remember him with gratitude and thankfulness for the influence he had on my life. May he Rest In Peace and perpetual light shine upon him.
Jim had an engaging personality and was a lot of fun to be with back in the day. We were students at Dougherty and La Salle. It is obvious that Jim carried those traits throughout his life. It’s sad to hear of his passing and my prayers are with you all at this time.
Dear Jim,
I'm very sorry about the loss of your dad last week. I always enjoyed meeting your dad twice in my life for going to college basketball games at Lafayette against Colgate in Easton, PA & Temple against Tulane in Philadelphia, PA as well.
From, Paul Morris
As a sports reporter, I interviewed Jim on dozens of equations. Win or lose, always a gentleman. Every time I saw and spoke with him, though, he was a winner in every way that counts the most. I am so sad about his passing and wish I could interview him one last time. RIP, Jim, and please put in a good word for all of us.
I have such fond memories of Mr. Fenerty from my time at both St. Mike's and Bishop Conwell. He was a really good guy. May he rest in peace.
