I knew Len for about 5 years. He had a great sense of humor and never let the opportunity go by if there was a chance for a good wisecrack. Then one evening I saw a History Channel episode about Okinawa. Some of the old soldiers said they wouldn't be here if it weren't for what Len did. They described it, and it was incredible. The very next morning, I looked at the schedule, and saw Len's name on it. I told him about the show, then he told me about those days on Okinawa. In detail. He still regretted losing his buddies. As he spoke, I realized I was listening to a true American hero. I still feel very privileged to have known Len, to have talked to him. He was the real deal.

Dear Lazarick Family
I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lazarick (Kathy’s dad) once on his visit to Arizona
and at the wedding of his granddaughter Rachel.
We connected because of our service to the country and our experiences from battle.
From one Veteran to another we shared how battles would affect one’s life.
We both served in different eras, but he had seen tougher times in battle than I.
Yet through it all, he soldiered on with dignity, perseverance, and sense of humor
My Condolences to the Lazarick Family.
Rest in Peace Brother
Sincerely
Salvador Puga
