Condolences for Robert Berthold, Jr.

Richard ZiemerFriday, November 20th

Saddened to read that my colleague of 30+ years at Del Val has died.
His presence on campus and in our lives was always uplifting. Until we trade this mortal for immortality I’ll carry pleasant memories of him.

Rev. Dr. Richard Ziemer

I just learned that Dr. Robert Berthold from Delaware Valley College passed away. Doc Berthold was a reason that I attended DVC. I was originally scheduled to attend the University of New Hampshire, but after visiting the UNH Campus, there were some issues that concerned me. Mom and Dad knew of my concerns, so Dad took me to check out Delaware Valley College of Science & Agriculture (was known by that name for three out of my four years there). I actually knew DVC as the National Farm School. We went during the earlier Summer and ran into Doc Berthold on Campus. Doc Berthold stopped what he was doing and guided Dad and I on a very educational tour. Doc didn't hesitate to answer any questions and showed extreme pride in being a member of the Del Val Family. We stopped by Admissions and picked up an application. I was in a few of his Classes during my Freshman year. The Rest is History. I knew Doc Berthold affectionately as "The Bee Man" and a caring soul who was always smiling and outgoing to all whom he came in touch with. Thoughts and Prayers with his Family and Friends. May Doc Berthold Rest In Peace

I just learned ofBob's passing. He was a remarkable man, coach and runner.I have been competing with DR.B ever since we first met in a x-country meet at Juniata(I ran for DelVal). We continued competing formany years in local(Philly area)track and road races. In the early 90's I was an assistant forbOb's x-coun try team.IT WAS GREAT TO WORK WITH HIM.t was great how he would have the annual x-country party at his house and I was thankful for the graciousness he and his wife showed to all.May he rest in peace.

I
definitely want to come to the memorial service.
