So sorry to hear this. A truly fine officer and a gentleman. Will never forget when he was serving as 60A he was always interested in what was going on with the enlisted men & women attached to our division. RIP Ed
Condolences for Dr. Edward J. Sturm
Very sad news. I worked at NAPC while he was the CO. I can truly say he was my favorite. Not only was he competent he was caring and upbeat. He was one of the good guys. My wife and I also enjoyed his and his wonderful wife Annette's company in social settings. Sincere condolences to the family

A really compassionate and thoughtful Rest in peace "Skipper".
My deepest sympathies to Captain Sturm's family, at this time. I was Commanding Officer's Secretary at "NAPC," when he was CO in the early 1980s and, truthfully, I hadn't seen him since the early 1990s when I transferred to another Navy command in Orlando and saw him in Trenton once before I left. But I will never forget working for him ... yes, of course, he was a great leader and Naval officer, but he was also one of the nicest people I've ever met. Every day being his secretary put a happy smile on my face, and it was a pleasure to show up at the office at 0745 every day when he was there! It was clear that he absolutely loved his family, and I recall how he spoke of not only his dear wife (I still recall Annette's smile and laugh, and it was also a pleasure meeting her back then!) but also of their children, whom he adored. My dear son passed away a couple of years ago, and I'm picturing his welcoming Captain Sturm to heaven with a hug and a comment like, "Oh, yes, Captain Sturm, my Mother said you were a nice guy." All the good guys end up in heaven. God bless the Sturm family, who will no doubt miss him greatly.
Our deepest sympathies to your family. While I never had the honor of meeting him, your stories revealed him to be a wonderful man. We send our love to you all.
