“Mr. Pete”, as my son, Kyle called him when we moved a few doors down from his apartment in New Britain in 2003, was the most caring, helpful, generous man and my savior when we became his neighbor because I was a single mom who needed help with random things as the years went by. He built me a trellis for my front porch and he even put a sun on it because he called me “sunshine”. Kyle and Peter had a mutual love for cars and spoke for hours about them.
Over the last few months, I spoke with Pete weekly to check-in. His last response to me was, “Upside down. Going crazy with all of the docs and tests...”. That was the last I heard from him. My sadness is indescribable.
Peter was a proud dad and couldn’t have been more proud of the strong, smart, hard working young man his son has become. I know a lot about what they have both been through and I believe Pete was at peace with most of it.
Much love to the whole family. You were all very important to Pete. He loved family dinners and vacations. You have all been through so much tragedy over the last recent years. Peace to all of you. Kristi
