Bill was also blessed to have five wonderful grandchildren: Jackson Marshall, Avery Roman, Riley Marshall, Shane Roman and Paige Roman, all of whom brought much joy to his life. Finally, Bill is survived by his faithful caregiver Brenda Cardona.
Born in DeKalb, IL, Bill was the son of the late Edward and Caroline Marshall of Algonquin, IL, where Bill grew up. He graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, where he met his wife, Pat. They were married in 1965, and resided in the Chicago area until moving to Bucks County.
Since 1968, Bill has devoted his career to being a trusted advisor and wealth manager to generations of clients He is credited with being one of the first wealth managers to champion the development of the Certified Financial Planner designation and, in 1977, he became one of the first one hundred persons in the US to achieve that certification.
Bill's commitment to the Bucks County community was evident in his longstanding service to the boards of a number of organizations, including the Doylestown Health Foundation, Bucks County SPCA, Ann Silverman Community Health Clinic, the International Association for Financial Planning, Philadelphia Area Chapter, and the Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce. He was also a committed supporter of community service organizations, including the Lenape Valley Foundation and Bucks Beautiful. In 2011, he was honored by the Rotary Club of Doylestown with the Four Way Test Award for Business in recognition of his dedication to helping build the local community in dozens of ways, small and large.
Bill celebrated his retirement in December 2019 and noted, "there is nothing as rewarding as having a client say, ‘we are able to retire in comfort, and we couldn't have done it without you.’” His greatest joy was seeing his clients being able to step down from their lifetime working roles to enjoy travel and family time without financial cares or burdens.
