Cyril Leo Hillegas

Cyril Leo Hillegas, 88 years old of Philadelphia, PA passed away on October 9, 2024 at Juniper Village in Bensalem, PA surrounded by his loving family. He was born in 1936 to the late Elmer and Mary Hillegas (Fisher) in Somerset, PA.

He was a kind and quiet man who spent his life dedicated to family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served for two years. Cyril worked at the US Steel Corporation- Fairless Plant for over 35 years.

Cyril coached baseball and took great care of the grounds at the Far Northeast Athletic club, where he and his wife Gloria were very involved. He enjoyed hunting with his boys and family, along with fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. He enjoyed being out in nature taking long walks and riding his bike.

Cyril lived the last five years at an independent living facility named Juniper Village of Bensalem Pa, where all of the residents and staff became family and cared for him. To them we are very grateful.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Gloria Kartik Hillegas; brothers, Joseph Hillegas, Paul Hillegas; sister, Eileen Harkinson and late husband Leo and Rita Monaghan and her late husband Stewart.

Cyril is survived by two loving sons, Stephen C. Hillegas and wife Diane of Holland and David P. Hillegas and wife Heather of Somerset; siblings, Mary Razewski and late husband Aloysius and Teresa Fouchtman and her late husband Thomas, sister-in-law Helen Hillegas; six grandchildren, Amanda Gaccione (Eric), Lauren Jones (Joseph), Brittany Kelly, Trever Hillegas, Kelsey Yanosky and Alexis Yanosky; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, October 17th from 6pm-8pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, Richboro, PA. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Cyril’s name to Homes for Our Troops at https://support.hfotusa.org.

Additionally, a funeral mass will take place on Saturday Oct 19th at 9:00am at St John the Baptist Catholic Church, 101 Findley Street, New Baltimore PA. A committal service will follow at St John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, 167 Findley Street, New Baltimore PA.
