George F. Mick
George F. Mick, Jr., of Northeast Philadelphia, died peacefully on October 2, 2024. He was 100 years old.
George was the beloved husband of 73 years to the late Virginia “Ginny” Mick (nee Pincik).
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late George F., Sr. and Katherine Boller Mick, and the brother of his late siblings Dorothy Martin, Lorraine Tate, and Gerald Mick.
George was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, Class of 1942. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, who proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater during World War II aboard the USS Emery (DE 28) and the USS LCI (L) 447. Upon his return from service, George embarked on a long career in the window manufacturing industry. His work ethic and talents enabled him to work his way up the ladder to eventually become the Branch Manager at Howmet (Air Master) and General Manager of Karey Master. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he made many lifelong friendships during his career.
George was a communicant and founding member of Saint Jerome’s Parish for almost 70 years.
George was also an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan who enjoyed watching the games and reading about them the next day. He was quite a jokester who certainly did enjoy making people laugh and smile, but above all, George cherished being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. George will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who was in his life and loved by him.
George is survived by his devoted children, Virginia Bottaro and her husband Richard, and George G. Mick and his wife Annette. He is also survived by his 3 loving grandchildren; Michael Bottaro and his wife Nicole, Andrew Bottaro and his wife Jill, and Maria Mick; his 4 great grandchildren; Edward, Brynn, Brooke and Natalie and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 9:45 a.m. until his Funeral Mass at 10:45 a.m. at St. Jerome’s Church, 8100 Colfax St. Philadelphia, PA, 19136. Interment with Military Funeral Honors will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.
