Obituaries John L. Shire
John L. Shire of the Nottingham Section of Bensalem died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. He was 95.
He was the beloved husband of 72 years to Irene Homsher Shire and the loving father of the late Patrick, Karen, and John L., Jr.
Born in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late Phillip J. and Ellen Rossiter Shire.
John was a proud veteran of the Army who served during the both World War II and the Korean War. He was the president of Pyramid Graphics in Croydon, PA for many years prior to his retirement in 2009. John enjoyed traveling the United States but he truly cherished the many family trips he took to Ocean City, NJ. John will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who was a part of his life and loved by him.
In addition to his beloved wife Irene, John is survived by his loving children Kathy Schieder and her husband Don of Holland, Tim Shire and his wife Rosemarie of Bensalem, and James Shire and his wife Therese of Lumberton, NJ. He is also survived by his seven adoring grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
John’s family will receive friends on Thursday, September 26, 2024 from 10:30am until his Funeral Mass 11:30AM at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 1071 Holland Road Holland, PA 18966. His interment will follow with Military Funeral Honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
