Grace C. Bonner Service Information

Grace Cochran Bonner, formerly of Feasterville and most recently of Lafayette Redeemer, died peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Hospital, Meadowbrook. She was 90 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Robert W. Bonner, the daughter of the late Henry H. and Clare A. Price Cochran, and the mother of late Robert W. Bonner Jr. She is survived by her devoted children and their spouses: Joseph R. Bonner and his wife Lisa, Dianne Kane and her husband Timothy, William J. Bonner and his wife Margaret Mary, Denise A. Rube and her husband Robert, and her daughter-in-law Kathleen Bonner. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Grace was a graduate of St. Hubert’s High School for Girls,   Class of 1951. A devout Catholic, she was a fixture at Assumption BVM Sunday masses. Grace had a pleasant, outgoing personality and always seemed to have a smile on her face. Her talent for the arts, particularly in drawing and painting, continually amazed her family. She even did her own ceramics, making plates, lamps, and vases - always adding her own painting touches to her pieces. Her sewing skills as a seamstress were equally impressive, and her embroidery was especially respected; as the mother of five children, it was also a necessity. Grace and her husband Bob were avid gardeners. Her children and grandchildren would always look forward to the latest crop of “Bonner’s beaners,” and there were always more than enough tomatoes to supply her children’s families and most of the neighborhood. She enjoyed Philadelphia sports, especially watching the Phillies. She didn’t limit herself to simply watching sports, however; she was also an avid bowler. Back in the day, she spent many years in a league at Street Lanes competing for the Morning Glories.

Grace and her family spent many happy summers at the Maplewood Swim Club in Southampton and vacationing in Ocean City, New Jersey. When her children had grown, Grace and Bob took the opportunity to travel, visiting many parts of the world and appreciating the many cultures they experienced.  Grace also worked for Feeney’s Nursery in Feasterville for many years, where she was the go-to person when customers were looking for Department 56/Dickens ceramic houses.

Living most recently at Lafayette Redeemer on Verree Rd. in Philadelphia, Grace took a personal interest in the other residents, naturally befriending them and joyfully keeping them focused on their lives still to come. Grace enjoyed many activities and outings that were offered there, unless of course she was spending time with one of her children. She was also a devoted grandmother to her fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In her later years, spending time with her grandchildren was her favorite thing to do. Indeed, after her husband passed, it was the highlight of her days. Grace will be remembered for her warm smile, kind words, sweet disposition, and her “Homemade Hallmark” cards that she created on her computer and sent to her family and friends for every birthday, holiday, and anniversary without fail.

Grace’s family will receive condolences on Tuesday, September 24, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown, from 11:15 am until Words of Remembrance begin at 12:00pm Noon. Her Funeral Mass will follow at 12:15 pm. Interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

Grace was a fervent animal lover.  Over the years there was always a dog or two at the Bonners, which they treated like family. Contributions in Grace’s name may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, P.O. Box 277, Lahaska, PA, 18931.
