James M. Fluehr Sr.

James M. Fluehr, Sr. of Southampton died peacefully surrounded by his devoted wife and family on Saturday September 7, 2024 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook. Jim was 74.

Born in Philadelphia, Jim was the beloved husband of Helen Lennon Fluehr; they would have celebrated their 48th Wedding Anniversary this November. He was the son of the late Joseph A. Jr., and Elizabeth Meehan Fluehr.

Jim was a graduate of Weidner School in Philadelphia and the Johnstown School for Physical Impairments.

Jim started his professional career in Fraud Control and as a Recovery Agent for Girard Trust Bank in Philadelphia and successor Mellon Bank; he retired after 23 years of combined service.

 He also helped develop and operate for 25 years, Coast to Coast-Financial Service an online search service for Check Cashing Operations.

 Very community minded, Jim ran for Southampton Tax Collector in 2010 and has proudly served his community until his retirement in March of 2024.

He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish for 46 years. As a devoted father, and dedicated civil servant, his physical challenges did not prevent him from coaching for Our Lady of Good Counsel CYO and the Southampton Knights Baseball League. Many of the teams he coached were Super Stars.

Jim’s love of fishing, especially off shore deep-sea fishing was passionate. He was successful in landing Big Fish like Tuna and White Marlin but he always released the small fish back to the sea.

In addition to his beloved wife Helen, he is survived by his children, Michael Fluehr and his wife Heather, James M. Fluehr, Jr. Stephanie Coe and her husband Michael and Christopher Fluehr and his wife Melissa. He is also survived by his 3 brothers, Joseph A. III and his wife Chris, Thomas Fluehr and his wife Susan, Lawrence L. Fluehr, his 4 sisters, Edythe Mary Merritt, Eva Andrea Albert and her husband Dr. John, Mary T. McQuiggan and her husband John and Margaret Mary Bauer and her husband Mark. Jim was the proud grandfather of 12, Kennedy, Quinn and Carter Fluehr, James Meehan, III, Breck, Carson and Charlotte Fluehr, Olivia Fluehr, Avery, Michael, Jr., Marcus and Mason Coe.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Sunday evening September 15th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home 800 Newtown-Richboro Rd,.(at Holland Rd.) Richboro and on Monday September 16th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 2nd Street Pike and Knowles Ave. Southampton, with Words of Remembrances at 10:50am, his Funeral Mass  will follow at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
