Sara A. Stover

Sara Stover, 85, of Doylestown, after a long and fulfilling life passed away August 14, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Stover, who passed away in 2022 after 36 years of marriage.

Born September 24, 1938 in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Martha Abel.  After graduating from Hamilton High School Sara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Ursinus College.  Sara was a dedicated employee at Penn Engineering and Manufacturing for many years. She took pride in her work and was respected by her colleagues. Outside of her professional life, Sara volunteered with the Bucks County Opportunity Council, where she made a positive impact on the lives of those in need. Her commitment to serving others was recognized when she received the Ambassador of the Year award in 2016. 

Sara was an avid gardener with beautiful flower gardens and plantings surrounding her home.  An enthusiastic bird watcher, Sara enjoyed identifying the many varieties of birds that visited her gardens.  She was a fabulous cook and baker, no one will ever forget grandma’s Christmas stolen and chocolate chip cookies. She loved raising and releasing monarch butterflies. She was an excellent bridge player and puzzle solver.  Sara had a great curiosity and eagerness to learn.  She most treasured spending time with her family and friends. 

Survivors include her brother James (Peter), four children, Sharon Carpenter (Mark), Susan Boyd (Kevin), George Stuebing (Debbie), and Diana Zipkin (Andrew); two step-children, Cynthia Conwell (James) and Susan Pursell; five grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Sara, Zack, Emily, and Allison; two step-grandchildren, Daniel (Caitlin) and Megan.

A tribute will be held for Sara on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 10:00am until her funeral service at 11am at Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 East Butler Ave (at Sandy Ridge Rd) New Britain, PA 18901. Interment will be held privately.

Contributions in Sara's memory can be made to the Bucks County Opportunity Council, the organization she passionately supported.
