Dr. Dennis J. Bonner M.D.

BONNER Dennis J., M.D. of Upper Makefield, PA, Avalon, NJ, Deerfield Beach, FL passed away on August 10, 2024, at the age of 74 with his devoted family by his side. Dennis was a loving husband and father, loyal friend, dedicated physician, and passionate animal lover. For many, the sight of Dennis with his talkative Macaw, Lucy, on his shoulder and his Vizsla, Pekoe, constantly at his side, evoked an endearing Dr. Dolittle.
His intellectual curiosity was fostered at the Haverford School and then at the University of Pennsylvania, where Dennis received his undergraduate degree from the Moore School of Engineering. His time at Penn sparked his life-long passion for engineering. In recent years, some of his most cherished memories were working on drones with his grandchildren.

He then decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and pursue a career in medicine where he felt he could have the most impact. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson University and held a variety of roles within the medical field. Dennis was a dual board-certified physician in electrodiagnostic medicine, physical medicine and rehabilitation.

He moved to Bucks County with his young family to help establish St. Mary’s Hospital, where he would later become the Chief of Medical Staff. He held multiple directorships for nursing homes and rehabilitation centers and was a Clinical Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University.  Most notably, he served patients for 40 years with a dedicated medical staff at his private practice in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Bucks County, Pa.

Dennis is preceded by his loving son, Patrick O’Connor Bonner. He is survived by his wife, his best friend and partner-in-life for 52 years, Theodora O’Connor Bonner, and his loving children, his daughter, Julia Bonner Eckel (Mr. James Eckel), his son, Dennis James Bonner, Jr. (Mrs. Yolaine Bonner),  his daughter, Ursula Kirk Bonner ( Jen Rajchel) and his daughter, Paige Patterson (Dave Zartman).  Dennis is also survived by three loving grandchildren Jack James Eckel, Patrick Bonner, and Zoe Bonner. He is survived by his siblings, Charles Bonner, MD, Eugene Bonner, Esq. William Bonner, M.D., Susan Newland and James Bonner, MD.

Relatives and Friends are invited to greet Dennis's family on Monday morning, August 19, 2024 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 81 Swamp Rd. Newtown with a visitation starting at 10:00am, followed by words of remembrance at 11:15am until the start of his Funeral Mass at 11:30am. Interment will take place privately.
