Stanley James Glowacki Service Information

Stanley James Glowacki (Stan), of Southampton, PA, formerly of Philadelphia and Holland, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was 93 years old.

Born in Philadelphia, Stan was the beloved husband of the late Maryann Anderson Glowacki for over 52 years, the son of the late Stanley and Mary (Cieslak) Glowacki, and Stepson of the late Henry Reap.

Stan will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by his children and their spouses, Annemarie (Leo), Stanley, Jr. (Maureen), Joseph (Julia), Susan (Jack), and James (Dawn); his grandchildren, Christine, Sean, Stanley, Liam, Matthew, Owen, Mairead, William, Kieran, Ella, Aidan, Tess and Alexa; his great-granddaughter Elisabeth; his brother John Glowacki; and his sisters-in-law, Delores Glenn, Janet Redmond, Suzanne Barker, and Maureen Hartman; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Anderson and James Anderson. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Helen Glowacki, Loretta Mullin, Robert Anderson, and Joseph Anderson.

He grew up in Port Richmond and the Mayfair sections of Philadelphia. At age nine, he entered Girard College with his brother Jack where he excelled, becoming President of the Student Council, Captain in Battalion, Company A, and a member of the school Glee Club. At Girard, he developed many lifelong friends with whom he kept in touch regularly by forming a pinochle club and later through monthly luncheons at the PUB. He was a life member of the Girard College Alumni Association.

After Girard, he served in the U.S. Army, Corps of Engineers from February 1952- February 1954, then attended St. Joseph's University, graduating in 1957 with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Stan was also a terrific athlete. While at St. Joe's, he played shortstop for the varsity baseball team. Basketball was another of his passions, and you could often find him practicing with the Hawks basketball team. After graduation, he was a longtime season ticket holder who enjoyed attending games at the fieldhouse and Palestra.

He loved playing pick-up basketball in Mayfair at the Disston Rec Center and soccer with the United German Hungarian Club.

In 1958, he married Maryann Anderson, and they had 52 wonderful years together. They bought their first house in the Far-Northeast and started their family of five children. In 1970, Stan and Maryann moved to Holland, PA, where they continued to provide a great family life.

Stan loved and supported all his children and was a great role model for them as they pursued their goals and started families of their own. He cherished his grandchildren, consistently attending their many games, plays, recitals, graduations, and important life events.

Stan loved listening to music; his family remembers the sounds of Friday with Frank and Sunday with Sinatra filling their home. Stan also loved sharing music with his friends and would often create playlists they would enjoy.

Stan was active in his community. At St. Bede the Venerable parish, he coached CYO soccer and sang in the church choir. He coached soccer at the United German Hungarian Club and baseball for Council Rock Little League. He still found time to play softball in the neighborhood men's softball league and serve on the Northampton recreation board.

He worked for 37 years at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, where he was the Philadelphia Director of the Office of Community Planning and Development.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet Stan's family on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 8:30 AM-10:15 AM at the Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Road (at Holland Road) Richboro, PA 18954. Words of Remembrance and his Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bede the Venerable Church at 1071 Holland Road in Holland, PA 18966, beginning at 10:50 AM.

Stan's interment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road in Newtown, PA 18940, on April 1, 2024. Those joining the family are asked to gather at the Cemetery Administration Building, following signs for funeral processions, promptly at 10:30 AM.
