Kirk Stewart

Kirk Alan Stewart, 69, of Doylestown, passed away February 2, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Joan C. (Metzger) Stewart.

Born June 1, 1954 in Abington, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Pullar) Stewart.

Kirk was born in Abington, PA, grew up in Jenkintown and graduated from Jenkintown High School in 1973. In his first job he developed a love of computers which led him to a lifelong career in Information Technology. He worked for the Asplundh Tree Expert Co. for 10 years in the IT Dept. and in the One Number To Call Division. Kirk went on to work for FileNet Corporation and IBM as a District Systems Manager for over 25 years. In that position, he was the recipient of many awards, some of which took him and his wife around the world. He enjoyed music, photography, drawing and computer graphics and he loved traveling, sailing, and spending time with his family and friends. As a teenager, he joined the Independent Fire Company in Jenkintown and spent 10 years serving his community, which he was most proud of. In 1997, he and his wife travelled to Romania to adopt their son, who he took great pride in watching him grow into a wonderful young man.

In addition to his wife, Joan, Kirk, is survived by his son, Caelan Stewart; a brother, Douglas Stewart, a sister Kerry Stewart and six nieces and nephews, Shannon, Aubrey, Hilary, Todd, Chad, and Holly.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:00 am until his funeral service 11:00 am at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain. Interment will be held privately.
