Gregory F. Scelzi

Gregory F. Scelzi, “Greg” of Upper Holland, died suddenly on April 2, 2022 at the age of 17. Born in Meadowbrook, Greg was the beloved son of Anthony “Tony” Scelzi and Dr. Laura Borthwick.

Greg was a graduate of Hillcrest Elementary School, Holland Middle School and was in his senior year at Council Rock South, looking forward to his graduation in June.

While at Holland Middle School, Greg played on the football team for a short while, but his true love was baseball. For the past 6 years, he was fortunate enough to attend spring training on the weekends in Clearwater, Florida and had the honor of serving as a bat boy for the Philadelphia Phillies.  Additionally, he loved spending time with his Godfather, Frank, at the Nova Care Complex, meeting many of the Philadelphia Eagles players in person.

Greg was a wiz with numbers. He had entrepreneurial vision, and used that skill to put stock portfolios together.  Greg was a good young man. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his devoted parents, Greg is survived by his brother and sister, Michael W. and Olivia C. Scelzi; his maternal grandparents, Len and Gertrude Borthwick and his dear Godparents, Frank and Lisa Ventresca.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Friday, April 8th at 9:00am until his funeral service at 12:00pm, at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road, (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA.  Interment will be private.

In honor of Greg's life, the family has set up The Gregory Scelzi Memorial Fund to continue his legacy of academic excellence.  The fund will award a scholarship annually to a deserving student of Council Rock High School South.  In lieu of flowers, Greg's family wishes for donations to be directed to this fund.  www.gofundme.com/f/the-gregory-scelzi-scholarship-fund
