Robert J. Eells

Robert J. “Bob” Eells Sr. of Newtown, PA died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January19, 2022 at St. Mary Medical Center.  He was 85.

Robert was the beloved husband of 63 years to Marie Lois (nee Hess) Eells.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Vincent and Mary Eells and the brother to the late Vincent and Charles “Frannie” Eells.

He was best known as Bob, or Pop, by his friends and family; and for many of the 50 Years that he lived in Parkwood section of NE Philly, Bob was also known as “Ziggy” which prompted his license plate of “YO ZIG”.

Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army who was called into service during the Korean War.  Immediately following his call to service, Bob began a career that would span over 36 years with the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 5.  After retiring as an Elevator Mechanic, he started his own business, Classic Exterminating Company which kept him busy.  Bob was active in the lives of his family, whether it was coaching little league, softball, or being an assistant Scoutmaster. He always made sure he had time for Robert and Susan as well as his grandchildren of whom he was extremely proud. He was also an active member and served on the committee at Faith Lutheran Church and was a committeeman in Parkwood for many years.  In his leisure, Bob enjoyed fishing on his boat “The Just Marie” with family and friends. He also enjoyed times spent at the race track and playing the slot machines at the casino. But, with the many things that Bob did in his life, the one thing that made him the happiest was taking care of Marie. He lived every day for her.  Bob will be greatly missed but eternally loved by everyone who had the pleasure to have been in his life and loved by him, a true gentleman.

In addition to his wife Marie, Robert is survived by his two children: Susan Marie Myers and her husband Ken of Newtown and Robert J. Eells Jr. and his wife Andrea of Holland.  He is also survived by his devoted grandchildren: Ken Myers III, Samantha Myers, and Robert Eells III.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown.  The procession to the Cemetery will form at 12:15 PM at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown-Richboro Road (at Holland Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954.  The family kindly asks that everyone in attendance would wear a mask.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 65 East Street Road Feasterville, PA 19053.
