Marie M. Breslin (Maydag)

Marie (Mitzie) Breslin went home to be with the Lord on January 14, 2022, after a brief but valiant battle with Covid. She was surrounded by her family who loved her dearly.

Mitzie and her identical twin sister Millie were born in New York City February 20,1930 to Otto and Marie (Flurer) Maydag. Mitzie and Millie lived in Jamaica Estates, NY, their mother Marie died when they were 9 years old and their father Otto when they were 19, after which they moved to Philadelphia.

Jim & Mitzie met in 1955 and married in 1958, making their first home in Drexel Hill. In 1968, they made their way to The Fairways in Warrington, where they raised their three daughters. They then moved to Chalfont for many years.

Mitzie was a faithful part of Davisville Baptist Church and Calvary Church of Souderton, serving in Pioneer Girls, choir, and nursery. She enjoyed her small group, women’s retreats, and regular fellowship with many friends.

Mitzie worked numerous jobs as a bookkeeper, a waitress at Seafood Shanty in Warrington, but her favorite time was the thirty-three years she spent as a realtor at Weichert Realtors in Doylestown alongside her partner and friend Pat Shemenski. When asked what attracted her to real estate, Mitzie replied “I loved meeting people and seeing how they decorate their homes.”

Mitzie is survived by her husband Jim of 63 years, and their three daughters, Carolyn & Mike Shenot of Newtown, their children Jake, Matthew and Will; Robin and Jeff Supp of Annapolis, MD and their children Michael, Jessica Reed (Bryce) and Courtney, and Debi and her partner Lory Swank of Homestead, FL; sister Millie Fleischfresser and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mitzie was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Marie, brother-in-law Marvin Fleischfresser and niece Beth Breslin.

Mitzie was a great wife and mom and selflessly gave of herself to her family. She was always supportive and put her family first. Mitzie was frequently seen at horse shows, golf tournaments and baton & dance lessons when her daughters were youngsters. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, entertaining, golfing, going to the beach and traveling with friends. Greece, Alaska, and Hawaii were some of her favorite trips in her later years.

Mitzie’s favorite time of life was when she became a grandmother (Memom) as she was known to her six grandchildren. They gave her endless joy when she babysat, held sleepovers and watched them all playing sports.

Jim and Mitzie are residents at Wesley Enhanced Living in Doylestown. She loved the three and a half years she spent there and made many new friends.

Please join us in celebration of her life on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Grace Point Church, 592 Washington Crossing Rd., Newtown, PA. Visiting hours are 10am-12pm and the celebration of life service 12 pm-1pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Mitzie’s name to either of her favorite charities: Samaritan’s Purse or The Wounded Warrior Project
