James J. Norton

James John Norton passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his home in Richboro, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.

Born November 11, 1932, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Julia Morice Norton, and the beloved husband of Marie E. Farrell Norton, to whom he was married for 69 years.

James was an active member of our fantastic armed services and served in Korea. He often said that his wife, Marie, served along with him as she was at home on pins and needles awaiting his return from deployment. James served as President of Liberty Bell Youth Organization (a local youth sports club in NE Philadelphia) and was instrumental in developing young minds while they juggled sports and school.

James was an ICON in the title insurance industry where he worked his way up to Sr. V.P. of Industrial Valley Title Insurance Co., before breaking out into his own Title Insurance business.  He stayed in this career until he retired, continuing to do settlements well into his 80’s.  James was so good at his craft that he was often consulted about difficult title matters by his colleagues and peers. He later was a mentor to his daughter, Jeannine, as she ventured into the same business under National Abstract Bucks Title in Richboro.

James’ love of God, his wife, Marie, and his family (in that order) was his absolute world.  He was always there for direction, advice or just a shoulder for all of his children and grandchildren.  We all got to witness a true love story unfold and are forever thankful.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children James F. Norton, and his wife Kathianne, Joseph P. Norton, and his wife Amber, John B. Norton, and his wife Kathleen, Jeff W. Norton, June M. Baxter, and her husband Stephen, and Jeannine A. Olenski; his sister, Sister Jeannine Mary, IHM; as well as 13 beloved grandchildren, and 3 adored great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Jack Norton, and his sister Judy Yanak.

Relatives and friends are invited to join James’ family at his visitation on Saturday, January 22, 2022, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by his funeral mass at 10:30 AM, at St. Vincent de Paul Church – 654 Hatboro Rd, Richboro, PA 18954. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sisters of IHM, Camilla Hall Nursing Home, c/o 230 IHM Drive, Malvern, PA 19355.
