Irene T. Van Wert (Petcavage)

Irene T. Van Wert of Ivyland died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  She was 96.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Van Wert and the loving mother of the late Walter Van Wert and Teresa Rudi.

Born in Scranton, PA Irene was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Burke Petcavage and the sister to the late Binnie Howey, Edward, and Francis Petcavage.

Irene enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, watching tennis, but above all, she cherished times spent raising her children and watching her family grow and prosper with the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Irene will be greatly missed, but eternally loved and remembered by everyone who had the honor of being in her life and loved by her. 

Irene is survived by her loving and devoted children; William Van Wert and his wife Faith of Jacksonville, FL, Patricia Maguire of Emmaus, PA, David Van Wert of Levittown, Richard Van Wert and his wife Mary of Langhorne, PA, Christine Ackourey and her husband Peter of Ivyland, Matthew Van Wert and his wife Mary of Levittown, and Mark Van Wert and his wife Denise of Langhorne, PA. She is also survived by her sister Mildred Petcavage, her son-in-law Vincent Rudi, 29 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and her Goddaughter Joy Daniels.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewings on Monday, January 17, 2022 from 5:00PM until her Funeral Mass 7:00Pm in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 654 Hatboro Road (at Tanyard Rd.) Richboro, PA 18954 and on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 1030 North Main Avenue Scranton, PA 18508 from 10:00 to 11:00AM.  Her interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Vincent de paul Church at the Address above or to Catholic Medical Mission Board, PO Box 37041 Boone, IA 50037.
