Alan L. Peters

Alan L. Peters passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at his home in Warminster. He was 81.

Born November 14, 1940, in Westfield, Chautauqua County, New York, he was the son of the late Harold and Betty Smith Peters, and the beloved husband of Judith Canella Peters, to whom he was married 60 years until his passing.

Alan attended Westfield Academy and Central School and graduated in 1959. After high school he attended Edinboro State College prior to getting married.

Alan was a hard-working man who started his career working for Welch’s in Westfield before moving on to the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was quickly promoted and continued working for Penn Central Transportation Company after the merger of the Pennsylvania Railroad, New York Central Railroad and Hew Haven and Hartford Railroad in 1969. His career path led him to be transferred to several locations in Ohio and Pennsylvania until finally settling his family the Philadelphia area in 1972. Alan was retained by Conrail after their take-over of Penn Central and retired in 1995 after over 35 years with three different railroad companies.  In retirement, Alan volunteered at Doylestown Hospital for 10 years and worked part-time for the Thompson Organization as a driver for over 12 years.

He was an accomplished artist who spent some of his time during retirement time creating pen and ink drawings, mostly for his own enjoyment; however, some of his drawings were utilized as Christmas cards for FairPoint Communications’ Westfield office. Some of his favorite subjects to draw were trains and lighthouses which he photographed during vacations spent with his wife and family.

Although Alan was career oriented, he would always put family first by volunteering to be a Cub Scout Pack leader or baseball coach for his two sons, Pioneer Dad with his daughter or just being there to support his children during their many other activities. During his retirement he was always willing to help family and friends with various projects.

Alan will be remembered as a generous, loving man who had a wonderful sense of humor which was still evident even in his final hours.

Alan is survived by his wife, Judy, children, Marc Peters, Matthew Peters, and his wife Mary, Kim Aronson, and her husband William, his sister Susan Peters, his brother Stephen Peters and granddaughter Chloe Aronson.

Services and interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association.
