Thomas J. Duffy
Thomas J. Duffy of Holland, 80, died peacefully on January 2, 2022 with his family by his side at Bristol House in Warrington. Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved husband of Maureen (nee Hogan) for the past 55 years. Devoted son of the late Thomas J. and Madeline Cunningham Duffy, brother of the late Nancy Marriott, and brother-in-law of the late Phyllis Naylor Barrett.
In addition to his beloved wife, Tom is survived by his loving children: Monica Farris, Mary Kate Duffy, Thomas J. III, and his wife Molly, Maureen Petrei and her husband Brian, Megan McCarey and her husband Michael. Brother of Robert Duffy and his wife Barbara, Mary Ellen Devers and her husband Patrick, Michael Duffy, and Donna Little and her husband Thomas. The best Pop-Pop to Patrick, Michael, Rose, Fiona, Tom IV, Frank, Michael, Vanessa, Natalie, Gabrielle and Bridget. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Brett Marriott, brother-in-law Joseph Hogan and his wife Florence, son-in-law James Farris, and many nieces and nephews.
Tom was a graduate of North Catholic High School, and then graduated from Villanova University in 1963 with an electrical engineering degree. While working in guidance and control at GE, he earned both a Master's and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He had an esteemed 40+ year career as an aerospace engineer with Lockheed Martin, retiring in 2003.
Tom enjoyed traveling, summers by his pool and in Avalon, NJ, good times with old friends, holiday parties with family, singing oldies and Irish songs at Duffy's Tavern - his family room bar, embellishing a good story, cheering on the Phillies, Eagles, and Villanova basketball, enjoying a bowl of ice cream every night, and most of all - entertaining and laughing with his grandchildren who were his best friends and biggest fans.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland, PA 18966 from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery, Newtown.
