Mark G. Hintenlang

Mark G. Hintenlang, 61, of New Britain, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 after a courageous 21 month battle with brain cancer. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) Lee Hintenlang.

Born in Trenton, NJ, he was a son of Ruth M. Hintenlang and the late Joseph C. Hintenlang.

As the son of two school teachers, an emphasis was placed on Mark’s education. Mark was a proud alumnus of the Council Rock School District.  Childhood summers were spent traversing the United States in the family station wagon and camper.

A lifelong interest in cars led him to study engineering at Hartford University.  While studying at Hartford, Mark met Betty who was studying music education. Mark graduated with a degree in civil engineering and the two married in 1984, eventually settling in New Britain, Pennsylvania.

As a father, Mark taught patience and kindness.  His wonderful sense of humor and work ethic was an example for his children and all those who knew him.  He prioritized his children and family above all else.

Mark worked for several different engineering firms before starting his own successful engineering business.  In addition to his private work, he also served the community as New Britain Borough's engineer and road superintendent.

As a musician, Mark played trumpet in local symphonies, jazz bands, and small brass ensembles.  He was a builder and helped many family and friends with home additions and renovations.  He was an active member of Lenape Valley Church, serving as an elder and member of the property committee.

All of these accomplishments were propelled by Mark’s tireless efforts to help others.  He always put others' wants and needs before his own.  The knowledge and compassion he shared with all who knew him will be passed on for years to come.

Along with his wife, Betty, Mark is survived by his mother, Ruth, two children, Lee (Megan) and Lara (Ben); two grandchildren, Lucas and Evangeline; a brother, David (Kate); and a niece and nephew, Lauren and Hunter.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, January 7, 2021 at the Joseph A. Fluehr III Funeral Home, 241 E. Butler Ave. (at Sandy Ridge Rd.), New Britain.
