Emelia C. "Amy" Hayman (Nasveschuk)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Emelia C. Hayman on Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Doylestown, PA, where she was surrounded by her loving family. “Amy” was 95 years old.
Born in Waymart, PA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Methodius and Martha Nasveschuk (Kellachow), and the beloved wife of H. Blake Hayman, M.D., to whom she was married for 39 years until his passing in 1994. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Vogler, and brothers Ernie and Milton Nasveschuk.
Amy grew up in Simpson, PA, graduating from Fell High School in 1943. As a young woman, she spent time with her older sister in Detroit, MI, working in the Ford aviation plant. She then attended nurse’s training at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Upon graduation in 1946, she worked as a registered nurse, where she met her husband, Blake. They married in 1955, and settled in Levittown, PA, where they raised their four children. Amy was integral in building Blake’s medical practice and was a founding member of St. Mary Hospital’s volunteer guild for women. The family relocated to New Hope, PA in 1970, and upon her husband’s passing, Amy moved to Perkasie, PA, with her daughter. Most recently, Amy lived in Doylestown.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Amy enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, mahjong, crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
Amy is survived by her children: Denise Hayman of Murphy, NC, Yvonne Kraeher (Rudy) of Newtown, PA, H. Blake Hayman II of Langhorne, PA and was preceded in death by her devoted daughter, Emelia “Amy” C. Lahoda (Joseph). Amy was affectionately known as “Mammie” to her 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, and was a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
